    I will wait and see if a) I get through and b) what the schedule is like before making any decisions. If I get through I think I will do it - it will be a once in a lifetime experience after all but if I dont get through I will not be too bothered as it will save me a huge amount of time and money.

    [END QUOTE]

    I am of a similar view but I really did enjoy myself there today and didn't think I did too badly on the drumming front so we'll see. Absolutely loved the "drums" they provided - very "Heath Robinson" in fact but they did serve the intended purpose I reckon so "well done" to whoever came up with the concept in the first place !!

    Like I said in a previous post on here, if I can do the schedule they want me to do, in whatever role that might be, then I will be happy to give the commitment to do it as it truly is a once in a lifetime experience - that holiday in the sun I am now seriously overdue will have to wait a while yet.

    Really cool to do part of my audition in the same room as Danny Boyle too - who returned my nod of acknowledgement as I left too !!!!

    Was speaking to someone who had travelled down from North Yorkshire but, he does seem to be a decent drummer already, so I kinda see his motivation really strange as that might seem to some you - we can't all be novices/experienced can we? They obviously think they can manage the commitment at this stage - only time will tell if they're right about that.

    6-8 weeks is going to be a really long time to wait to hear whether or not any of us have got through though !!!
    I know you are sworn to secrecy but your post has got me thinking what could those drums have been!!!!!
    sounds like you had a great time.
    does anyone else think like me that its strange that people that want dance get acting and drumming auditions?
    or do you think they are trying to see how we perform out of our comfort zone?

    I suspect they are just short of drummers and have an excess of dancers. Simple as that

    I am with you on that school of thought I think - going by how few people out of my first audition of 150 or so folk put themselves forward as potential drummers like I did and how many at yesterday's drumming audition seemed to have absolutely NO drumming experience whatsoever.

    As to the drums we used at the audition - I will only say "simple but effective though not too scientific in design". Sorry best not reveal any more than that. We did have proper drum sticks to hit them with though and one guy managed to break one of his pretty soon after we started that bit of the audition - how embarassing eh?

    Ha...I just got the same email re drumming at my audition tomorrow too (not being a drummer in any shape or form.....and certain I'll be terrible, but I shall be terrible with passionate enthusiasm!)
    So how did you get on do you think?

    I think final audition is 3rd /4th from a chart I saw on the door which tells the door person what colour the wristbands should be for each session

    When we started our audition on Sunday, they told us we were chosen for our 'rhythm' - I also have no experience of drumming, but genuinely it was a lot of fun. A bit difficult to hear the metronome but I tried my best! Changing rooms for all the different bits and posing for the 'ethnically diverse' picture kept the interest levels up. Good luck to everyone going over the next few weeks. It has been one of the best things I have done!

    Hi everyone

    I've been reading this forum with interest. I had my first audition on 11th at 1800 and have a second this Friday the 25th at 1730. Can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to it. The first was such an unbelievably fun night that I can't wait just to get back and do it again. I feel really privileged just to be considered for a second audition! I don't care what it's for - I'm just going to go and let loose with whatever they ask me to do!

    Looking forward to seeing some of you there.

    Sounds like your audition was fantastic! My 'acting' audition was not so fantastic but it was interesting as we all had no idea what was required of us or what they were looking for.
    Good luck to everyone still to auditiion and also to all of us waiting to hear.
    Its going to be a long 6 to 8 weeks!

    Hi all

    Also got recall for this Friday at 5.30 p.m.
    Friend who auditioned at same time as me and put herself forward for pointe work ballet, had heard nothing. Emailed and was told she is in but they are still waiting to allocate a date for this particular call back.

    Looking forward to Friday, hopefully my training in marching and youth bands and majorettes all those years ago will be helpful.

    Its normal to be nervous and all I can say is Just go with the flow and enjoy it. These auditions mean we are working / performing with some of the best in the business.
    I have read that Danny Boyle was at some auditions and at mine the performance guy from War Horse etc was there, its great to have the chance to be part of it.
    Everyones experience has been different from what I have read on here, but we have all enjoyed it.
    I for one just hope that I get picked, although I am not confident at all, and I will be so disappointed if I dont get through.
    Good luck in your audition tomorrow.

    Another theory on the lettering system they're using (just my own thoughts so feel free to ignore if you so wish!)

    B = Ballet
    R = Relay (as in escorting in the Athletes parade?) Alternatively, what about Rhythm (for the drummers amongst us) or "Reggae"/"Rock n' Roll" or similar (for the dancers) or even "Regal/Regalia" (for the actors) but, then why not separate these groups with different letters to avoid confusion betwen the various categories?) or, on a less positive note it could be R=REJECT (unless we do something good that really impresses them this time around of course!).
    A = Actor
    G = General Performer - which could, of course, translate further as absolutely anything at all Including helping the production team get everyone out from backstage and back again on time at the live event rather than performing yourself as part of the massed effort per se !!
    C = Circus Skills (if there even is a "C" category)
    M = Musician (again, if there is such a category and I don't believe there is !)
    F = Finale
    S = Scotland - as in 1 of 4 countries which make up "GB" the host nation - to be featured in a piece paying tribute to that part of Team GB's heritage
    E = England - see above
    N = Northern Ireland - see above
    W = Wales - see above

    ......... and within each of those classifications they need a set number of each for the final cast for each ceremony show !!

    SIMPLES (not much> <Ha Ha>!!!

    This has made me less enthusiastic about my recall now.... I have 118G on my email.... I don't want to be 'general' =[ anyone with a recall at 5:30 got the same letter?

    Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony?
    I'm Thursday 5:30 -- and I have an R. TBH I wouldn't try to figure out what the letters mean, they could be anything and I'm sure it wouldn't be anything as blatant as R, Reject G, General anyway. In the first audition, the number/letter combination didn't seem to have any recognisable correlation since I was mixed up with a bunch of letters; So I say don't worry be happy. In any case, there's no way you're going to be able to change it so just work it and do your best, right?

    I wouldn't worry about cornishscot's guesses as to what the letters mean. They are just guesses and it was wrong for me.
