Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony?
Thanks for the info - will PM you afterwards. Glad it''s not too physical, my plans to go to the gym over the last few weeks did not go too well
Better do a token amount of work for the next two hours, might make the time go quicker
(Original post by Pinnerite)
Hi flying pigs! Glad there at least some girls from here in 44 - none last night as Nevvie has moved to 47! Be prepared for loads of men tonight although you will have many fewer cos you will not have all the 44FOPers swelling the ranks. No ours was not at all physical - more mentally tiring remembering the routines- which were on the same theme as what I did in my acting recall - walking with arm actions. We had a 15 min break after 3 hours which was welcome with tea/coffee / hot water and hot chocolate on offer. The good news is that we are being sent crib sheets for the routines! Let's try to meet up on 20th May at 1:1 or PM me if you want to chat to compare notes. Good luck! -
Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony?
*SCREAM*!!!! I've just been PHONED by the Olympics people, and offered a role as an understudy dancer in the Opening Ceremony!!!
Hi Everybody, sorry I've not posted for AGES, but I've been lurking here for months. I originally auditioned in November (Hiphop), was made "Reserve", was offered to re-audition for Para in February which I declined, and now have a place in the Opening. Looking at the schedule, I've already missed 3 rehearsals throughout April. The guy on the phone said that they are suffering a LOT of drop-outs, hence why I've been called up. After SO long lurking here and sulking that I wasn't going to get anything, I can hardly believe it!
I am in 49-Group B. Can anybody advise me what this is? The guy said "dancing" but that's all I know. -
Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony?Well done, good luck!(Original post by Dancerwoman)
.....so I thought "what the heck" and filled in their application form (the Brasilian handover ceremony volunteers).
Yes, you could say that I'm stark raving bonking mad to apply for this.
If the auditions and rehearsals do not clash with my rehearsals that I have now and it's for the Paras then it would be a super duper result.
Sure you're mad, but you have plenty of competition from us other thread members.

Wow, congrats! A shame there are seemingly so many drop outs, but at least that's pushing the deserving and committed reserves up the list! -

Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony?Wow how thrilling for you! That confirms what so many have suspected that there are lots of dropouts partly due perhaps to the large number of rehearsals particularly for those further afield. I suspect others may be going to the first rehearsals so they are 'in the know' even if they cannot commit. It is highly likely that your understudy role will convert to full cast status and meanwhile you will get to the rehearsals! Fantastic!(Original post by ginger-snap)

It is an interesting development you having a phone call and NO if is not April 1st! It looks as if now rehearsals have started that is the more cost effective way of dealing with dropouts so they can in many cases get an immediate response rather than having to wait for a no before going to the next person. Gosh I bet they heard the excitement in your voice. Stay tuned to those phones as well as your computers now guys and gals - no peace for the wicked

Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony?Yes most of the costumes are already done.(Original post by Kidkstar)
I have a question for those who have started rehersals already about costumes - has your costume already been made based on your measurements from November? Or do they take measurements again at first rehearsal? Reason I'm asking is that I've lost a fair bit of weight since by audition in Novemeber when they took measurements and they are going to be quite different to where I am now and when I start rehearsals in 3 weeks.
many thanks in advance.

Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony? My call was not an 'unknown number'. I could see it had a London local-code (0208 etc), but of all the people I might have anticipated a call from, the Olympics was the last thing on my mind. My colleagues were all giving me funny looks as I was like "Oh my GOOOOOD!!!"(Original post by geejohn)
AAGH! I missed a called from an 'unknown number' yesterday and now I'm thinking the worst! AAGH! (although to be fair I was rubbish at the dancing - so it wouldn't have been a call for that)

Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony?PHP Code:
(Original post by Aber_Stokie)
Thanks Dancerwoman. As it's such short notice I'm not sure I'll get anything from them before I go. I'll take my passport along (and a notepad and pen - I think I'll have a lot to pick up quite quickly!)
Aber_Stokie - I'm rehearsing tomorrow too, maybe see you there. Don't worry, second week was completely different to what we did the first week, so we are all still learning.

Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony?I (47d) still haven't receivd my pass but there are a variety of ways to identify you. If you have your letter on your mobile and/or mobile number (that they have) then that is okay too.(Original post by Aber_Stokie)
I've not had anything with a barcode (yet).
Thanks for all the advice. It's great to be able to come on here and ask people in the know so that I don't end up harrassing casting! -
