Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony?Bad luck Mola.(Original post by Mola)
Uh oh. The TSR curse has struck again. I am currently laid up with knee elevated and iced. No idea what I did but I woke up on Thursday morning unable to straighten my leg, with huge swelling around my knee. Couldn't put any weight on it at all. Thankfully it's easing up a bit now but not enough for me to take my level 4 ice skating test today, so it's another six weeks on the same level for me. I have bad knees anyway, mainly due to my hyper mobility and overly strong outer thigh muscles which pull my knee caps out of place, but I have to be careful not to exert too much force while I'm still strengthening the rest of my muscles.
Back to the physio methinks.
Hope it gets better as quickly as it came.

Hi Cello50 and welcome on board. I'm still in 41A and yes, I think we'll spend the majority of our time in (and behind) the stands.
This is the blog that Bignic mentioned from the Vancouver Audience Leader that we're basing lots of thoughts on. Someone's also mentioned that in Sydney at one point though, people were dancing in the aisles of the stadium so there's still some chance of potentially being seen.
There's a part of me that would have loved to have been in the central arena doing something where I could tell everyone afterwards that I was that dancing pineapple. But there's also part of me looking forward to being the 'face of the show' to my section of the crowd, getting their immediate reactions and (hopefully) being around for the majority of the show rather than being bussed away after your segment's 15 minutes of fame.
And it's now 63 days to go....

Sorry for not replying sooner, but I was out all day yesterday at a training day and it was a late finish, followed by the trains home being messed up.
Thank you so much, Bignic12 and Flakeydom. This is the only discussion group I've found to do with the ceremonies volunteering where people actually talk about these things and offer advice and information, and it's been really helpful to read everything. I know we are very lucky to have been selected, but a combination of our rehearsals having been cut and me not being the 'outgoing and extrovert' cheerleading type doing what sounds like some pretty embarrassing things on the night(s) dampened my enthusiasm slightly! Having said that, you make an excellent point about hopefully seeing most of the ceremonies. I'm going to throw myself into it and make the very best of a unique occasion - and I'll enjoy meeting other TSR 41B-ers on 13th June (I'm 5' 4", short dark wavy hair, and will be wearing black below-the-knee running leggings and a pink T-shirt, so please come and say hello!). -
Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony?Hi LauraN1(Original post by LauraN1)
Welcome to the 41ers!
I'm loving your "so vague they named it twice"
Guys in 41A, after your first rehearsal you will HAVE to PM us in 41B and tell us - in all super secrecy of course - what the role is. I don't think I can wait til we start on the 13th.
My theory that they just split the group into 41A and 41B according to alphabetical order of last name did not hold up by the way. It I still think (hope?) that they just split the group to make it smaller, maybe they went by ID number or something like that.
Thanks - sorry, I didn't see your post until just now. I can't wait until the 13th either to find out what we're doing! Your theory about the group split could well be right as my surname is well down in the second half of the alphabet.
See you the week after next. -
Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony?lol! I thought I was the only one who left the TSR page open in the background for days on end!(Original post by Kit-Yan)
This forum is becoming horribly addictive again!
During the wait between the Nov auditions and eventually finding out I seemed to have this forum constantly open in the background and was always refreshing the page, then after getting the offer I put it all to one side for a bit but now my addiction to TSR has once again taken hold of me, and I find myself checking in at all kinds of silly hours.
Glad I'm not alone in my addiction!

Oh, and as for those thieves... How "anti-olympic-spirit" of them!!! I mean, stealing is simply despicable, no matter what the circumstance... but stealing from a fellow performer! That's just unacceptable! I can't believe they did that! tsk tsk tsk!
I'm glad they were caught and dealt with! -

It could have been me you are describing: 5ft 4in short dark hair......mmm wonder if that means anything??? However I am overweight and very extrovert and almost 50!!! That is where I am certain we are very different!!!
I will look out for you are will definitely be saying hello..not too sure yet what I will be wearing but will PM you nearer the day with my details!! -
Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony?Bignic - how can you say you are overweight -that was the biggest surprise of all at the meet up as we were all expecting Bignic to be - well big but with a massive personality - well we got the second part right but DEFINITELY not the first! Who are you kidding!!!!(Original post by Bignic12)

Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony?Dont worry at all Mola!!that has happened to me a couple of times when I have been on my IPhone. This is a brilliant site but I too have been unable to find a way of unnegging people! No probs!(Original post by Mola)

One other problem I have found is that twice I have inadvertently had access to messages not meant for me - but contained in a thread of messages to a person I have also PMd- which included a mobile phone number. Of course I ignored it but it does make me think we should not say anything confidential regarding the ceremony even on PM. Someone else allude to this problem a day or two ago so I am not the only person who has noticed this. -
Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony?
TSR does have two types of message.
There is one that you can get to by clicking on the person's name to view their public profile and writing a message in that box. That one is visible to everyone but I have seen a couple where someone obviously thought it was private and left mobile numbers etc
The other one is where you choose to send a private message. The only instances of that where I've seen someone else's comments is where I've been added to a reply where the person has quoted a previous PM. Perhaps I've just been lucky so far. -

Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony?
Just back from the village fete I was playing out at today with my brass band group - super weather there too so we were so glad of the marquee type structure provided to keep as cool for sure - still drank my 500ml bottle of water dry by the end of the first 30 min. set though ! I rarely drink enough liquids usually and am always being told to have more in hot weather especially) #whatascorcher

Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony?I'm not a 41-er but I think at this particular Olympics they're going to have a key role and a very wild time. Everything I've seen and read makes me think that rather than the spectacle and precision of Beijing they're going for the party spirit of Sydney x 10 and with a massive emphasis on energy and atmosphere - how could it be anything else with Underworld doing the music and Danny Boyle as creative director. So working with an audience at fever pitch is going to be really special, and I don't think you'll have to work too hard to gee them up. And I love what I'm doing but we'll only be on for around 10 mins at most before being whisked away.(Original post by Cello50)

Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony?I agree... the atmosphere is going to be electric. Even at the test event, the noise that 40,000 could generate was amazing and with a full house, and more to be excited about, the Stadium is going to rock. And I suspect British reserve will fall by the wayside as things get underway.(Original post by Caroline27)

Does anyone know if the dignitaries and heads of state are generally expected to join in with Olympic audience participation? Will one of the 41ers be expected to tell the Queen what to do?!?!

Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony?Tell me about it - as soon as I got home, I wrote as much down as I could remember. I got to just one left that I couldn't remember and it bugged me for about half an hour until I got it.. Happy to share my notes with any other 51ers, though not sure how much sense they make!(Original post by commonliner)
Who would have thought that 51ers could do with a crib sheet as well...I love my segment!
I might get some notes from a fellow performer, happy to share with other 51ers.Last edited by EllieAtWHL; 26-05-2012 at 22:23. -
Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony?
Please can you PM me your 51 crib sheet? My memory is bad and I was in costume fitting for one section so when we did the recap I was really struggling to keep up.
Also, I'm sure one of the emails said there would be a online portal. What happened? -
Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony?Commonliner!!! We're supposed to be organised and always on time. You must have been over here for too long(Original post by commonliner)
My trip to 3 Mills started with a shock, though: I was already on the tube when I realised I left my ID at home - so I had to return but still made it in time for some queueing.

Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony? You've already got your outfit sorted!? Very good. I think I'll be wearing roughly the same. We'll have to arrange for meeting up before the first rehearsal so we can go there together.(Original post by Cello50)
