Congrats to Ropey1's other half. Nice to know there are still offers going out.

Getting very jealous of all your meets ups and excitement. Hope there's the same level of enthusiasm here for the Paras.

Random question and I know it's me being a bi of a cheap skate but what are people doing about food at rehearsals ? My plan was to bring my own for lunch and dinner

Original post by Olympian
No problems taking your own food in.

Not sure that's true at the Stadium. At last week's 41 rehearsal, they told us that there was no food allowed into the Stadium but there would be stuff to buy when in there. That was reiterated in a follow-up email.

Samantha - I'd go for bringing sandwiches to eat before you go through security and then try perhaps to see if they'd let you through with a sealed granola bar or something for later. I'm sure those there next weekend can tell us how strict they are.

Congrats Ropey's OH! So glad to hear that some offers have gone out again.

Thank you for the info, useful to know. I'm trying to stick to a tight budget and have avoided buying anything at 1:1, but I can't go for 5 hours without eating. We're at the stadium next week but haven't been told anything about food.

Well what a fab night we had!!!
Great finally finding out what we are going to be doing. Best news of all is we will be able to watch everything, down side is BOY will we be busy!!!!!

However disaster struck on my way home......went to run for the tube when I had a POP in my left knee...OUCH!!!!
Just got back from hospital where I was diagnosed with a torn meniscus (interior) thats bad news am afraid!!!! Its the part of the knee where the meniscus (cartilage) has poor blood supply so will probably never heal 100% but can get a bit better with rest and ice. May need an operation to trim off the menisci.....so gutted :frown:
However will do exactly as the Doctor ordered and will do lots of rest and using a crutch will endeavour to make the 28th at the stadium

Great to see LauraN1, Samantha-Walker and Sky123 there last night. Had my costume(s) fitted....well the least said about that the better

Woo Hoo! Just had my Sunday rehearsal cancelled. A weekend day off - what a treat!

Yes, OK for you but the Saturday is moved to the morning which is not great for another person in your group who we normally give a lift to as we are still on afternoon and evening. All these changes are not helping us when we are already making sacrifices.

Oh no bignic, rest up. I feel your pain. My physio has said i have done the same, luckily (unluckily depending on how you look at it) I have only a small tear so hopefully i will be alright with just the RICE principle. Though i finally have an appointment with a specialist next week and will hopefully know what is going on then

As you already know ;-) I am gutted for you but hope you can get to your next rehearsal - lucky to have a 2 week gap so think on the positives. They seem to be quite tolerant of people with injuries - we have had had several crutches/walking stick at our rehearsals - as long as you can mentally take in what is required of you and if hey consider you are likely to be OK near the BIG DAY so finges crossed ad DO AS YOU ARE TOLD and get the kids and hubby to run around after you.:crossedf::crossedf::nurse::nurse:

However, I hasten to add that they should have given some warning about this when they issued the Cast Offer emails including prospective dates so as to enable many of us to plan our diaries / personal lives effectively.

I pretty sure the flexibility and commitment levels required were mentioned several times pre, during and after auditions. Also when the cast offer came the rehearsal schedule (23 sessions in my role) was attached.

it also said it was a draft schedule and was full of TBA's

I'm amazed that anyone outside of london is making such an effort and good on you, it's an effort for me and i live in zone 2. But basically it is writing off 2 months + off your free time and alot of holidays from work.

that said I'm loving it, my wife less so!

yes yes yes, do it if you can.
The one i went to said that i needed to find out how mad it was first and because I am quite young and very active, physio would hopefully be the best route, and the ultimate thing of rest (which i hate doing, oops) :colondollar:

I have been having private physio on my ex-company policy for some time but my physio limit has nearly been reached but I am going to continue paying until the BIG DAY - it is about £40 a 1/2 hour session - cheaper than my local hospital which charged £55 -but I think will be worth it.

I dont mean to be funny, but all your posts are negative. This person was happy they actually got a day of and then you come along and put a dampner on it. When we signed up, we ALL knew that there could be changes and that it was a huge commitment. You knew what commitment was involved yet you still moan about it. In fact you were moaning about spending £20 each time you go and threatening to pack it all in. If you are really so unhappy with it and are considering leaving, then do it instead of whinging about it all the time. There are still a lot of people that would have given thier right arm ro be part of it.

blooming heck, i feel real lucky now if i need to go back to mine here at work (secondment work, so not even with the company who pay my wage) as its only £20 for half an hour.
Though hopefully that money saved from that is the money i can use to get to london for the Rio stuff

unfortunately my injury is partly due to my sporty past but also my age!!! apparently its very common in a person of a certain age compounded by the sporty past ( Long-jumped and played hockey for Wales 30+/- years ago!! )...hey ho would not have changed a thing though, its just the age thing that depresses me.....I still think I am 27!!!!

It's difficult to be positive sometimes. I'm not asking or expecting anyone on this forum to make it better. Just to see if it's just me feeling a bit down having been so excited at the start. Obviously not!
Oooh Bignic - I hope you heal up! Fingers crossed that the physio can help...
