What was your subject? Not sayin' cause of the likelihood of being discovered and embarrassed
Which college did you apply to? See above
What is your school type (independent, grammar, comprehensive)? State 6th form/comp I suppose.

What were your GCSE grades? 8A*s, 4As
    Your AS grades. AAAA
    Your predicted grades for A2. 3A*s, 1A
    Your final A2 grades. 2A*s, 2As

How did you do in your entrance test? (If required) Um... I left it really late to practice, panicked 5 days before, and got an average score.
How well did your interview go? The first interview was very scary and I got almost everything wrong. I also stuttered and rambled. I'd not done any practice. I made a resolution to talk/answer more slowly in my second interview, and it went MUCH better because of that. It was even a bit enjoyable - when they said 'OK, we've got to finish now' I was like, 'Awww.'
How nervous were you before your got your acceptance letter (congratulations, by the way)? Super nervous!

May as well have a go, it's not as if I have 200 pages of history in French to read.
Exactly... I also definitely don't have a stack of Victorian tomes to read...

    What was your subject?
    Classics and English

Which college did you apply to?
    Corpus

What is your school type (independent, grammar, comprehensive)?
    Independent

    What were your GCSE grades?
    12 (and a half! ) A*s

    Your AS grades.
    AAAAAAA

    Your predicted grades for A2.
    6A*s, 1A

    Your final A2 grades.
3A*s, 2As, 1B (Yeah, that was never going to happen, frankly)

How did you do in your entrance test? (If required)
ELAT - thougt it had gone fairly well, my head of English said my close analysis was brilliant, could get full marks et cetera, turned out I got 44/60 which meant "candidate unlikely to be offered interview". So I was lucky.
Latin translation test - I thought it went really well (well, I'd revised like hell beforehand, sixteen page vocab list, archaic grammar books from libraries, the whole shebang), and according to my feedback it was about the strongest part of my application, so.

How well did your interview go?
Terribly. One interviewer all but called me a fool, another stopped me in the middle of my ramble to be like "usually people are better than this", and at one point all of them just laughed at me because I said something really stupid which I'm actually too embarrassed to type out here. Essentially, didn't think there was any way I was getting in.

How nervous were you before your got your acceptance letter?
As I said, I was sure it was a rejection coming, but my heart was still set on the place, and then there was snow, and post wasn't going to come for ages so I ended up badgering the admissions officer for my reply by email. It didn't help that all the applicants from my school who'd already heard had been rejected. I was a wreck.

Re: Successful Oxford Applicants, could you answer these questions?
What was your subject?- Classics 1

Which college did you apply to?- Exeter but was pooled to Somerville during interviews

What is your school type (independent, grammar, comprehensive)?- Independent

What were your GCSE grades?- 7A* 4A

    Your AS grades.- AAAA

    Your predicted grades for A2.- 2A* A

    Your final A2 grades.- A*AA

How did you do in your entrance test?- we were never actually told but the latin translation was fine but greek was horrible, didn't know any of the vocab and thought i wouldn't get in after that, revised like mad vocab and grammar wise before though

How well did your interview go?- interviews at exeter were not great, kinda awkward and everything but somerville were lovely and they went really well

How nervous were you before your got your acceptance letter (congratulations, by the way)? insanely nervous (my letters were delayed) so just spent ages waiting, opened the letter from exeter first saying they couldn't take me but knew somewhere else would, also my letter from somerville was quite heavy and full of sheets so i knew it was good news!

good luck everyone, it is actually worth applying to oxford, i did it for fun as i didn't really know where else to apply and was pretty shocked to actually get in!

What was your subject? Law with Legal Studies in Europe
Which college did you apply to? Queen's
What is your school type (independent, grammar, comprehensive)? Comprehensive

What were your GCSE grades? Errr...pass! Not sure I can remember! I think it was 10A*s and 0.5 As (from a short course GCSE), but I can't remember.
    Your AS grades. 5 As
Your predicted grades for A2. To be honest, I can't remember
    Your final A2 grades. 5 A*s

How did you do in your entrance test? (If required) I can't remember my score, but I think it was good, but not great.
How well did your interview go? My first one went terribly, my second one went better and my language one was OK.
How nervous were you before your got your acceptance letter (congratulations, by the way)?I thought I'd mucked my application up so much that I was expecting a rejection letter, and focussed on an interview I had at another university a few days after my Oxford interview. When I got in I had to read the letter several times to check I'd understood it correctly! But I think if I thought I had a chance, I would have been a bit nervous.

Your predicted grades for A2. A*A*AA
    Your final A2 grades. A*A*A*A*

How did you do in your entrance test? (If required) Did the PAT, dunno how it went
How well did your interview go? Meh, it's really hard to tell. I made some really simple mistakes but I think they don't mind because of the pressure
How nervous were you before your got your acceptance letter (congratulations, by the way)? Most tense moment ever :afraid:

    subject: chemistry
    college: Hertford
    type of school: comprehensive

    GCSE's: 7 A* 4 A
    AS: AAAAAA
    A2 predicited: A*A*A*
A2: A*A*A* (maths. chemistry and biology)

Interviews: had 2 both at hertford, one started badly and was asked some fairly simple maths that i seemed to mess up quite badly, but pulled it together, then the rest and the other one went quite well.

Waiting for the letter was nerve racking, i was woken up by the post friday, the same week as the interviews but it still seemed like forever. expecting rejection and when i saw the letter was thin i sort of expected it more, but very pleasantly surprised to find got in!!

    What was your subject? Chemistry
Which college did you apply to? Corpus Christi
What is your school type (independent, grammar, comprehensive)? Comprehensive

What were your GCSE grades? 10A*'s 1A and 1B
    Your AS grades. AAAAB
Your predicted grades for A2. A*A*A*A*
    Your final A2 grades. A*A*A*A*

How well did your interview go? i had three, two at corpus and one at exeter and i thought they all went awful, especially the first one. I got asked some really difficult questions and struggled (in my opinion) to answer them. But as a current student told me afterwards ... they purposefully ask you really diffcult questions they know you'll struggle to answer!
How nervous were you before your got your acceptance letter (congratulations, by the way)? Very nervous, totally didn't think I'd got a place!

You don't need more then 3 A levels and Oxford really won't care if you have a forth. All they want is for you to be predicted to meet their offer of A*AA (for this year). So I'd only keep it on if you really enjoy it and think you can cope with the work load

Someone who is good with graphs etc... can you do this? (Oxford related)
Can someone who is good with producing results graphically please make something out of this thread:
    http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/show....php?t=1782304

I think it would be a useful insight into Oxford admissions, even if the sample size is too small.

    Thanks

I did a graph of the 2012 applicants' A*s at GCSE. It's floating around the thread somewhere, it was around late August. The least was 1, highest 14, and the mean was about 6 or 7.

How nervous were you before your got your acceptance letter (congratulations, by the way)? Not at all.I'd resigned myself to rejection so wasn't bothered. Didn't go mad once I found out I was in, though I should have. Didn't think I deserved to be here until my second year...

    Hi!
Hope you don't mind if I post here...I'm not a "successful oxford applicant"myself, more of a prospective applicant...but it is related!

Just wondering, any successful oxford applicants from Australia here? If so, what subject did you apply for and what was your ATAR?

...I'm not really sure how many Australians are here, so if anyone is, please answer
In case your interested, this girl got into PPE two years ago with an ATAR of 99.75.

This is going to sound negative. I've met plenty of Australians.Perhaps not unsurprisingly though, The overwhelming majority are rich kids from a small group of South-Eastern boarding schools, including the girl mentioned above.
