Re: Drama school or Drama in university?
Hiya!
I am currently waiting to go to Bristol university in two weeks to study drama. my main aim is to direct and so i knew a more academic course would be best.
Unless you have your heart set 110 percent on acting i would not bother even applying to drama schools. If you can get into somewhere as prestigious as bristol and do a degree in drama there it is better and if at the end of the three years you decide acting is still what you want to do you can apply to drama school after. i know plenty of people who have done this.
Also, DO NOT settle for a lesser university when doing a degree in something as flimsy as drama. you MUST obtain high grades at both a level and gcse in order to be taken seriously. My suggestions are either leeds or bristol.
Good Luck! -
Re: Drama school or Drama in university?
By the way, the main difference between a drama school and univeristy degree is that at drama school they teach you to ACT. lessons will consist of voice/movement/technique training. However, at university you will focus more on all aspects of the term 'drama', ie theatre, film television and will use many different methods in order to do this.
