I'll add you
It's really pretty!
The city centre has a village feel to it with little cafes and bars, then further in all the main shops like debenhams.
The campus itself is quite green and spacious. The accommodation is nice looks comfortable.
They are always regenerating so the oldest is 7 years. The outside of the buildings aren't that nice (concrete) but its still a lovely feel and environment in my opinion. All undergrad accommodation is onsite.

Bad thing I would say is that it's at the top of a hill so after first year it might take a a while getting up there.
Where else are you applying?

Haha, I didn't get to see that. Might have to drop by if I get in
has anyone been getting offers yet??
how long do you think it usually takes? i sent my app off 2 weeks ago, i know that isn't too long ago, but i know quite a few people who've been getting offers from other unis in the same time period! Kent haven't even acknowledged my app! :/
You'll probably be treated to Woolf LT if you go on a big open day :moon:

Yes it is! I'm so excited and so nervous at the same time! I really really really want an offer - if I don't get one I'll be so upset!
I can't seem to find anyone applying to my courses for any of my choices - it's so odd!

What have you applied for? Or ar you a current student?

Hey! Don't worry too much about the acknowledgement letter - I applied on the 17th and all my choices except Kent have sent one to me.. I think they might just take a little longer to reply! Plus, I've heard that not all Unis send out Acknowledgment letters - what I'm going to do is give them another week - if I don't get one by then I'll ring them up and make sure everything is alright with my application.

Good luck!

Aww you'll be fine! Have you had an portfolio requests yet?
I've definitely seen a few people applying to UCL for fine art

I really want an offer from kent as well I 'fell in love' when I went to the open day. With the uni and the area. The nightclub situation there doesn't bother me because I don't really drink or go out clubbing. Which is why it's so perfect!

I've applied for architecture ^^

I've only got log ins to the uni's site for my other choices but nothing from Kent :frown: I sent it off 2 weeks today.
I was looking on last years thread for kent and the offers seemed to come around early november to early december. I don't think I saw any for October ^^

I've had one porfolio request - I actually had it yesterday  - from Leeds!
Oh nice - Architecture!
The thing is that during the summer I wasn't sure if I wanted to do Architecture or Fine Art, and after some 'soul-searching' I decided on Art, but I went to the Kent open day in Canterbury for Architecture, and missed out on the open day on their Medway campus for Art, and I've never been to Medway, so I don't know if it's nice!
That's the only thing that worries me!

Aww cool! I'm really scared about my portfolio, cause I don't do art. I do DT, so all my art stuff are things I've done outside of college.
Better to go with what you like best
You could pop down to medway during the term if you have a day off of college? I don't think they would mind people wondering around

Yeah, I've always loved Art, I find Architecture very interesting, but it's not my passion - I'm thinking of doing maybe an MA in Museum Curating or something like that afterwards

You shouldn't worry about your portfolio - I did DT GCSE, so I know what the kind of drawings/designs are like - I don't think it would be a problem to include one or two DT sketches, but yes, I do think you need much more artwork in there rather than designs. When I was thinking of doing Architecture the one thing my Art teacher told me is that the unis prefer to see 'artwork' that shows depth and breadth in materials and mediums rather than drawings of buildings. One last thing: they don't always want to see finished work, throwing in a few unfinished studies/sketches is always a good idea - just so they can see development! You should ask the Art department at your college to help you - they should be willing to give you some advice
Good luck with that! I'm sure you will produce some brilliant stuff!

The thing is that I'm an English student living abroad - and I only get to visit the UK once a year (due to money, practicality etc.), so I guess I'll be travelling to Medway 'Google-maps-style' haha - If you know anyone thats been there, I'd love to hear their opinion!
Applying for Mathematics and Statistics!
GCSEs: A*A*AAAABBB
AS: ABC (Maths, Business Studies, Economics which I'm resitting)
Predicted A2: ABB
Applied to: Leeds, Liverpool (both top choices), Kent, Reading and Portsmouth (which I got an offer from already)

Any Maths/Actuarial Science applicants?

What is museum Curating?
I've put my first year project from DT in it with all the stages i took from sketch to actual. Also got a page of buildings I drew in leeds nothing spectacular just ball point pen observations other than that I'm trying to show drawing skills in other medias but I'm rally bad at paint always have been. Do you think it's important to include paint or can I leave it out? I've done chalk, coloured pencils, pencil, black marker and charcoal so far. I've also included some web design because I mentioned that as one of my hobbies.
I've been up to art and they said draw buildings =/

Oh wow, were are you and why? If you don't mind me asking.
Got to admit google map visits are the best. Done that with a couple unit that I wasn't 100% on (:

I dont know how some of you got the idea that canterbury is friendly. The main reason i'm going away for university is that nobody likes the students. The relations between residents and students are terrible and the green spaces that were mentioned are being built on.

Thank sounds great! I'm sure your portfolio is going to be wonderful!
I don't think its a problem if you havn't got much paint in there - you probably won't use it much for Architecture anyway! Its good you have the whole design process down from DT too - sounds amazing! If you're stuck on adding another medium you could try collage? I absolultely love it, and it's really simple to do if you're not sure!
The web-design stuff sounds so interesting - I don't think too many people will have that in their portfolio - it will defo make you stand out! Good luck !

My job title would be a Curator, and I would be specialist on teh artwork in a gallery and I would manage and organise where the work goes and how the artwork is presented in the museum. It sounds really nice. I might also try Art Therapy or study the Preservation of Ancient Artwork and Architecture, so I could preserve old buildings or paintings. I'm not entirely sure - all I know is that I want to be surroinded by culture and heritage all the time!

I don't like to say exactly where I'm living on the internet, but at the moment I'm living in the Middle East, and that's all I'd like to say - please don't be offended!
