me! good episode tonight.. but i feel it is going to be inevitable that ppl are going to die this series and i dont want them to! i liked how they made it seem like things had kind of resolved esp with anna and bates etc but it all unravelled by the end of the episode..

I'm so happy it's back - and can't wait to see what's instore!! Although it's infuriating at the time, I'm glad now that they're so carefull about what they let the press and public know about storylines - it makes it all so much more fun!

I can't wait to see what happens with Anna and Bates, I'd like them to live happily ever after, but I think it's much more likley they'll both be miserable for about 2 or 3 more epsiodes befor they start a secrate liason, and then at Christmas they can have a happy ending (of sorts).

I think it's pretty obvious they're not going to have it easy that wife, what a biznatch!! Still, I loved all the drama and Bates' taking one for the family. And OMG, I thought Carson was going to tell Earl Gratham Mary's secret!! It has to come out eventually. :woo:

Going to be a load of deaths, for sure. I really really really hope it's not going to be William. Or Matthew!!

Just a general question for those who watch (as I realise the time period the show is set within), but are there any actors of colour in the show?

Noo,I hope not, but I have a feeling about that too, esp since I really like him and Sybil.
Plus, I think Sybil might come round? At least I hope she does, they are perfect for each other, 'ahead of their times' and all that! I got the feeling that Sybil kind of froze or something, she's probably not used to that kind of stuff?

Hmm - I think she'll fall for him, but too late, he'll be busy fighting in Ireland, and then he'll be killed - that's the theory in my house atm anyway!

    so excited about this season!

sybil/branson is my favourite pairing but i don't like what they seem to be doing with them, i know there's been a time jump but branson is suddenly gushing about being in love and sybil genuinely doesn't seem to feel the same way. maybe she likes him, but not enough to be disowned by her family (if she married him) :-(

also looking forward to thomas' storyline with the blind patient at the hospital, even though i know it'll break my heart. and i'm interested in the thomas and sybil interaction. there's just something about thomas i can't help but love him a little.

See, as much as she's not a likeable character I think it's good they're not making it easy for Anna and Bates. Gives a bit more colour for the show.

    Hello fellow Downton Abbey lovers

This series is looking very good! Think it's inevitable that someone's going to die, I think it'll be Matthew, though I hope not definitely love Mary/Matthew.

Also Lady Edith is such a grumpy moo, seriously!
And absolutely adore Maggie Smith, as always!

I know what you mean She's like Umbridge: whilst I hate her so much, boy that book wouldn't be anything without her.
Though I doubt she would have the same impact in this series of Downton.

Great to see fellow Downton Abbey lovers in here I love it and am so happy it's back for a second series. I hope Anna and Bates get their happy ending. His wife is such a cow.

What do people think of Edith (the middle sister)? I think she's really bitter and cruel, particularly when it comes to Mary. That said, Mary's not always innocent herself, but I like her character far more than Edith.

I think Edith suffers from 'middle child syndrome' and so is normally ignored by her parents because they are trying to find someone for Mary. I think the bitterness also comes from her liking Mary's ex-fiancé, who died in the titanic and Mary not caring about it at all.
Personally I like her better than Mary, but my favourite is Lady Sybil.
