Brookes send out info for applying for halls at Easter. Even if you put Brookes as insurance you can (and should) still apply to halls in case you end up taking that offer later on.
Brookes are opening another 600+ new hall places this year so there will be plenty of choice and opportunity to get something you want, even anyone who is insurance.
That's reassuring. So no one will have received accommodation passwords/etc yet? Also, have you gotten a welcome pack or anything? i got one measly letter about a visit day after I accepted their offer as an insurance but I've heard nothing since.
Has anyone heard back for Anthropology yet?? It's the only one I'm waiting to hear from...
Yup I got an offer back in November but apparently they've been pretty quite about responding. I've heard nothing since accepting them as an insurance!

Yeah, it took forever to get a response from them at all! But I got an offer last week so I'll be putting them as my insurance =]

Yep, same course but two of us started in January, which means we do semester 2 now with last years intake and will do semester 1 in September with you and the other new starters. As all the first year modules are compulsory everyone does the same.

Thats a lot to tell! But in brief, the course is roughly split in the first year 50% Economics, 25% Politics, 25% IR; Lots of theory then thinking about how that translates in the real world. The lecturers and seminar leaders have been great and are very enthusiastic about their subjects and the IX group (code for Econ, Pol and IR) are quite a mixed bunch both age, gender and nationality wise. We mix with lots of other course students in various modules too.
The Uni feels very relaxed but very supportive and they are very keen for us to work hard and do well. The locations are all well served by buses so no worries with transport either. I have only had limited opportunity to use the students union but they have a facebook page which has loads of info about what they're up to.
I also know they offer a lot of support specifically for international students both socially and at induction time and academically with the opportunity to study a free module in academic english writing which is rated highly amongst the students I know who attend.
Do look at the website the course details are very comprehensive, ultimately you must choose the course that feels right for you, all I can say is that I have no regrets choosing OB.

I have received offer from every other uni I have applied to apart from Oxford Brookes. I applied for Films Studies with Spanish back in the beginning of December and its been a while so I am getting very concerned. I have always thought it was a long shot but I still had hopes I could put it as my firm. any of you guys think I still have a chance? I'm thinking about calling them because ideally they should aim to get back to us by the end of march and that's not too far away! But still I wonder if they really didn't want me wouldn't they have just rejected me already?
