I have applied for this course but with an Art Specialism, I have been given a conditional offer but it doesn't say I have to get a B in my specialism any longer it just says 'Obtain 300 UCAS tariff points to include a minimum of 2 passes at GCE A2 or equivalent. The points to be obtained' hope this helps
Thank you! Yeah I just saw that and had a look, well I got 50 points from Business last year so hopefully if one grade isn't high enough perhaps the other ones can pull it up, thank you!

Recently firmed my offer, English Language Studies

Now I'm trying to decide between West Downs and Queen's Road accommodation. I'm assuming most of the lectures will take place on King Alfred Campus so Queen's Road would be a better choice what comes to distance.

Which do you think is the best choice for a mature student? I definitely prefer a quieter atmosphere and will rather hang out with other mature students than all the 18-year- olds

btw, any other foreign students going to Winchester in September?

    Depends how mature :P

I can't speak for West Downs but you're probably not going to like Queens if you don't like loud I mean its not too bad but its not exactly silent at night either. Queen's rooms are better though.

If you want very, very quiet and don't mind sharing a bathroom I suggest you pick one of the catered accommodations. Alywin is up by Queens but the other three are over the other side of the campus. Quiet and cheaper too.

Hello, this is a bit off topic, I've just started a thread about this too, buut, was just wondering if anyone is doing the ancient, classical and medieval studies? It's one I've applied for and just want to know if people are enjoying it, and if it's good?

Well, I'm 23 so not THAT mature.. but not a teenager anymore. But I've always had some problems falling asleep if there's any noise around so I don't want to end up in a noisy house.
I will probably put West Downs as my first choice. Queen's rooms do look better but I'll probably enjoy the atmosphere at West Downs more. Queens looks a bit too modern for me Other accommodation options look nice too, but I can't stand the thought of sharing a bathroom

Ahaha, not sure my teacher agreed with that when I submitted it but I'll just agree!
That sounds brilliant :') Oh right? That's cool then, but yeah, it really isn't that great not having much time to do anything with them!
Definitely cannot wait for this course, providing I get in D:
Same, I've never dabbled in that side of writing either!
Yeah exactly so it'll let us try out loads of different types! I also really like the sound of the work experience module in Year 2, that sounded really good so doing that!
Aw, I know what you mean, I want to do this course so badly but I'm worried I won't get in argh hate A-Levels, they're so nerve-wracking! You doing A-Levels? If so, which ones?

Hi! I'm doing Creative Writing, if that counts I picked Queen's Road accomodation coz the rooms and kitchen areas were really good sizes and because it was right on campus, so nice and close to everything saying that, West Downs was also very nice and some people feel it has a better community atmosphere, but obviously it's all down to personal preference

I only saw the self-catered accomodation though, so no idea what catered's like!

Yeah Creative Writing is definately English! I picked West downs in the end, it's cheaper and by the end we'll all be looking for house shares right? :') Queens is my second choice though! So we might be neighbors!
