C3 Trig Question !!

solve 2tan^2θ + secθ -1 =0

so far my working out is as follows:

2(sec^2θ - 1) + secθ -1 = 0

2sec^2θ -2 + secθ -1 = 0

2sec^2θ + secθ -3 = 0

let secθ = x

therefore 2x^2 + x - 3 =0

is this correct so far??

for this equation im getting secx = 1 and secx = -3/2

but i dont know how to solve these.

is my working out before correct in the first place?

many thanks

Hi
Do you know what sec(x) is?
sec x = 1/cos x

Rest looks good

sec x = 1/cos x

Rest looks good

so to solve the equation i would do 1 / cosx = 1 and 1 / cosx = -3/2 ??

then rearrange to get my x ??

cheers guys!!
