Re: Food and diet is way, way, way too low on government agenda!
It's peoples personal commitment to health which is OUR downfall as a community. I get so angry seeing obese people. However I'm angry at myself as well as them as I can't help them! I know its easy to blame the givernment, but we British need to encourage each other - with no niceties - to lose weight. walking the sreeets and seeing a cheap food solution tempts everyone! But people need to get the will power to walk a few extra steps to the shop next door I.e tescos (as they're monopolistic). Is choose a wrap with salad over a processed bit of meat any day.
The issue of cost is understandable but the prices are only this high because not everyone buys the food so the store has to make up for it. A vicious cycle. Thqe solution? People buy healthier options and put fast food businesses out of business. Harsh. Yes. But it is necessary after what statistics about obesity were on the news recently. -
Re: Food and diet is way, way, way too low on government agenda! That's because Tesco Express is geared towards those with jobs and what-not, whereas your kebab and chicken shop are pretty much living off of the pupil trade.(Original post by BTNH)
stuff
Try a packed lunch if you're that bothered, that way you can choose what you eat before you eat it.
Plus it'll probably be better for you than the 'healthier' option from Tesco Express.
Lastly as everyone has said, it's not the government's job to legislate what people eat, only to educate.
