Re: Aberystwyth Applicants 2012
was looking at 2012 from 2011 - doesn't look good then does it - looking at the 2011 table it seems its the average teaching score and the staff student ration that have had the biggest effect the former going from 60 to 49 and the latter from 16 to 19.1. In 2010 the Guardian ranked it 71st. All the league tables seem to use slightly different data. Stats will never tell the whole story and still reckon its the best place to go.

Re: Aberystwyth Applicants 2012Exactly! League tables pffftt... I'd rather go to a non league match than watch Man United play Chelsea or similar. Does it matter that X Uni is up 10 places or that Y Uni is down 15 places? If the students have a better time and like their experience more at Y Uni then that is the place to be.(Original post by ysgwrn)
still reckon its the best place to go.
There's no point going somewhere 'good' (table's wise) if you aren't going to enjoy it. -
Re: Aberystwyth Applicants 2012
Why on earth can no one answer all the questions? Why do the always pick out one and ignore the others. And the most important question is always the one ignored.
And why on earth does the Student Finace European Team not have an e-mail? Do they really want to listen to crappy English over long distance calls. Not to mention the cost.
Does anyone know how an EU student gets the NI number? Does the uni provide health insurance to students? (Aber ignored that part of my letter) -
Re: Aberystwyth Applicants 2012I can't answer all of your questions (just a student-to-be as you are), but when it comes to health insurance I'm sure you should be covered as an EU student. I'm norwegian (EEC) and as such an "international" student, and I have the same rights as an EU/British person to health care. I've got a card called "Health Insurance Card" which guarantees me the same rights as citizens of EEC/EU countries. If EU members even need this card I'm not sure of, but you should definately be able to get it, it's probably quite easy - in Norway I can order one online. Your parents might know, it's the same card you should bring on vacation (inside EU/EEC) in case you get sick or in need of health care. You should be as well covered as everyone else is in GB (Except those with private health insurances).(Original post by Elevant)

I've added a link to the norwegian equivalent, there's a picture to the right so you know how it looks like. http://www.helfo.no/privatperson/eur...ult.en-GB.aspx -

Re: YouGo!
I started using YouGo, but after it not allowing me to upload a display picture, I gave up with it.
If you're not already part of it, you should join this: http://www.facebook.com/groups/277618982278680/
EDIT - If this doesn't make sense, it's because it was a response to somebody on another thread, until it was merged with this thread.Last edited by Aek-94; 06-08-2012 at 16:34. -
Re: Aberystwyth Applicants 2012
I have a question about the loan/grant payment schedule letter.
The payment schedule letter only shows the amounts of the tuition fee loan and not the grant, is that correct? The notification letter about the paymets I will recive, states I will not have to pay anything to the uni myself and also explanes how the grant will be payed to the uni. So is it ok that the payment schedule letter only tells me about the loan payments, or should I be worried?
If you have recived the payment schedule letter, and you got the grant also, then did your payment schedule letter say something about the grant, or did it oly have the loan inf, like mine? -
Re: Aberystwyth Applicants 2012
To everyone who's an Aberystwyth 2012 Applicant;
Good luck for tomorrow! (if you need it that is!!!
)
Remember to stay calm and I'm sure you've all got the required grades to get you to Aberystwyth.
If not remember that Aber are going into clearing this year (for a change!), so if you do not get your required grades please don't worry too much and try and get in that way.
Que sera sera....
edit ~ seriously come on now, who can neg this?

Quite a lot of clearing places at Aber by what I've seen.
And good luck from me too to everyone!

"UCAS Confirmation: You get the grades you need - You will receive an AS12 confirmation letter through the post from UCAS, and an email from Aberystwyth headed "AS12 - Confirm Your Place". You must let us know if you wish to accept, defer or decline your place by following the link given in this email to our online confirmation page."

Sounds like they'd be fine with it.
Congrats.
