I emailed the uni to see if I needed to have any of the jabs again coz i had some of them a long time ago. They told me to get my dr to compltete the form and if i needed any jabs then their occupational health dept would arrange it.

Hi, I had to do my crb in June and took 15 mins to do at Coventry. Already got that back and all clear. As for the injection I had to do a blood check for the antibodies that I have in my system, which will then determine which injections that I will need to get. It's not free from my docs so looks like it will cost my £20 per shot and the hep b is a course of three injection. I think I messed up on the nhs stuff, so need to contact them. Are there any other mature students going to cov that have kids. How are you dealing with child care and the cost of it?

Yes I have confirmed Cardiff as my first choice, just waiting for results and to hear about the funding- which I am really concerned about! Apparently they are sending out letters on 16th August. Does anyone else know anything regarding the funding issue at Cardiff? x

Hi jackief, have you not been sent an email inviting you to complete boss? You need to complete it and then send in the evidence that they want, best to do it ASAP.
    Are you local?
Only 40 days till the week starting the 24th of September:rolleyes:
    Not long

I never received an email about nhs funding so just applied without one, i think they are recommending you just do it now without the invite now anyway. It took about 10 days from sening my docs in which was pretty quick really.

I had a letter from my uni to attend an OH screen and they give me all the injections I wanted there for free, i need 1 hep B vaccination and MMR (which I think i already had but there was no note from my doctor!). Iv gota have a blood test in sept but shouldnt need anymore injections.

Yep uni days are creeping ever closer, plus I finally know where Im going to be living know which is always a bonus!!

I'm really confused about the funding! I was supposed to start last year and don't remember having any problems with the funding but I had to pull out at last minute, they then emailed me offering me a deferred place for this year which they said would carry with it guaranteed NHS funding for my tuition fees. I went to do my enrolment last night and got to the tuition fee part and it didn't say anything about the NHS funding just that I had £9000 to pay!!! :/
So I rang the NHS student people today and they just said that the funding for fees are paid directly to the university.. then I rang Finance at Cardiff Uni and she said not to worry, something about the departments had not yet sent the information to Finance?
I also emailed the School of Healthcare Studies earlier about it and they just said about the letters going out tomorrow confirming funded places.
    Really confused!

Don't worry, same thing happened to me last year. When I went to enroll it said I had all these fees outstanding! You will recieve the letter soon and then I think you send that off to the finance people (I can't really remember, but it will get sorted )

Not sure if it's the same this year but when I went there were about 10-15 people on the course out of 45ish who didn't get funding. It was based on their interview score and basically they were put on a 'waiting list' for funding (ranked in interview score order) and then as people dropped out they were given funding. It seems incredibly harsh of cardiff to do this, but I guess it's just the way it goes! Fingers crossed for you that you get funding!

If you don't get it, you can still apply for a normal student loan...the only difference being that you will have to pay that one back, you'll just be in the same boat as non-healthcare students.

Not long to find out if I'm going to study OT at Uni of Liverpool!
    So scared!!

    OT is in clearing at:
    Brunel
    Canterbury Christ Church
    Cumbria
    Derby
    London South Bank
    Oxford Brookes

If I don't get into my firm, I don't want to and don't think I'll get my insurance as it's the same points, so I feel a bit calmer now as I know I'll have enough points to get into somewhere like CCCU as they only wanted 240 for 2012 entry and I did want them as my insurance originally but they rejected me without interview!

    Good luck guys!

    Hiya,

Had my interview in March. Firstly, everyone attending has an introduction presentation. The reading/ writing task was easy, just ticking a few boxes to describe the kind of person you are.
Then after a tour of the campus, the group divide into two groups. Here you are put into pairs for a listening skills task. Basically you have to remember as much as you can about your partner and report back to the rest of the group.
Then in small groups you are asked to present what skills are required for OT?
Afterwards you have to write a short paragraph reflecting over the whole experience. Then there is a question and answer session. I was there from 9 until about 1pm. Good luck!

Mine was pretty much the same as the one posted, except they all varied slightly. We had to go round in a circle and scream our name at the top of our voices lol *embarrasing* then introduce yourself to as many as possible by shaking hands etc.. We were then asked which area in OT we know best, community, mental etc and you went to a corner, then spoke about it if you wish.. group tasks were to put together a presentation on what we think OT is, like an advert that would be on tv.. Then mime a tv advert with our group to the rest of the people and they had to guess! Was then finished off with a written piece; how you think you performed, what you could've done better etc! Good luck, hope you get it
