I do think it's pretty depressing how our fear of paedophilia, amplified and perpetuated by the media, has led to a situation where teachers are not even allowed to comfort distressed children.

The media perpetuate the idea of a paedophile being a dirty old strange man so much that children are terrified of any strange man they see regardless of wether they interact with them or not. It's been proven that most cases of child abuse are carried out by someone in or close to the family. This hyperbole is genuinely dangerous and leads to a lot of cases going undiscovered. It's obvious that the man wasn't fiddling kids at break time, there is no need for him to be sacked. It seems like any teacher who dares to deviate from the norm is "pruned" so to speak. This isn't good for the children.

According to these governers, hugs = sexual desires

And secondly, as tempting as it can be to use this extract to comment, it seems a little biased to me... might be best to hear both sides before commenting

Quite. After seeing huge swathes of tabloid-style one-sided and outright deceptive journalism in the Telegraph, I just don't don't trust it any more.
What a load of nonsense.

You should watch this:

It's paedogeddon!

Fired for hugging is DailyMailesque. Ridiculous, the level of hysteria there is around this issue these days. I'm pretty sure despite the sensationalist spin the Telegraph tend to put on things, this did actually happen. Although we might not get the whole story.

I personally feel this is ridiculous and don't know when the looney leftism will stop.

I have no idea. Soon, hopefully. At the rate we are going males are going to be automatically put on the sex offender's register from birth.

I hope he sues them for every penny they have - a female teacher doing this would not have raised one single eyebrow; it's nothing but sex discrimination.

I have no problem with hugs as long as it is nothing more. In primary school kids can miss their parents and a hug can go a long way.
Secondary school is the same, my spanish teacher (female) would hug pupils for different reasons, no sexual motive behind it.

All I can say is; "James Bond".

Some people just aren't happy unless we are all living in a permanent state of fear and anxiety.
Don't you guys know? Every man on Earth is just a pedo waiting to strike.

I know I am.

"Every man is a potential rapist."

Germaine Greer.

Hence The Daily Mail.

Exactly this.

That is really unfair. I used to work in a private nursery, which was even more difficult, as a couple of evil parents enjoyed making complaints about us all the time to try and get out of paying their fees. Seriously, if their kid said they loved their 'teacher', one mum would come and make a serious complaint.. crazy!
How is it relevant that Lynda Banister is a Liberal Democrat councillor?

I think the porn star teacher shouldn't have been dismissed, but this guy should've.

The Telegraph is a right wing piece of ****. So presumably this was a dig at Liberal Democrats, who clearly aren't very liberal or democratic. But they often do that anyway so who knows?

Plus everyone knows the Lib Dems are just a platform to reintroduce burning paedos in big whicker men.
It's probably not the expected norm, the way he was acting, but this has got to be a joke, surely?

It sounds like he was merely one of those, fun, exciting and engaging teachers that come along pretty rarely that make learning fun. Especially seeing as no one was harmed, no one was caused any trouble and that there wasn't a single serious incident, this just seems ridiculous.

It's shameful that our fear of paedophiles has stemmed to such an extent that this has happened.

i want to know why Monsieur Anglais is automatically referred to as a pornstar... i have never seen his errm output... it is possible that he has stellar talents but more likely that he is just a run of the mill pornworker

:bear:
I've hugged one of my teachers before. Worse is that it's a primary school child and they're making a big deal out of it. What's wrong with hugging a young girl? If a stranger picked up a teddy that a girl dropped it would be normal for her to hug him but because it's a teacher it becomes paedophilia. Ridiculous.
