The Student Room Group

so erm, in my halls, no1 speaks english?

Wondering what to do, freshers week was quite hard. I saw most people out with the people in their flat etc

I find my flat to be a lonely place to be. I've made a few friends in other flats etc, but it would just be nice to come back to people, so i can chill out with them rather than spending time indoors, in my room.

You will make most of your friends on your course though.
Bloody hell, where do you go, London Met?

Well apparently you don't write it so I guess that's fair.

where's ur university at?
Mine is:
2 English
1 Dutch - okay at English
1 Japanese - barely speaks it
1 Malaysian -//
1 Nigerian - //
1 Chinese - doesn't speak it

I feel your pain :console:
Also in this boat! Have you tried asking one of the staff at your halls if you could maybe swap rooms with another student? That's what I'm trying to do- it would be a long year, living with people you can't really make friends with. When I asked if swapping rooms was allowed, they said they have a waiting list I could put my name on so maybe your uni has something similar  They probably have at least some english- I think it's a requirement for most unis? Though whilst most of my flatmates can speak fairly good english, they are always with people who speak their own language so they don't really seem to use it which is a bit frustrating.
Demontfort, in leicester..
waiting for a transfer xD
