What universities to pick?
I want to study physics at university, I have Phys, Math, Chem, Bio A*A*AA respectively at A level and 2A* 9A 1B at GCSE. I'm doing AS F.maths
I'm thinking of applying to Imperial, Durham, Warwick and UCL but none of that is final.
What could be my 5th option? are any of my current potential options stupid?
Please help me friends -
Re: What universities to pick?I'm certainly not good enough and I don't think my personal statement will be ready for that deadline. I have thought of it but I'm not of the calibre to go there.(Original post by bramz19)

Re: What universities to pick?So you don't think you're good enough for Cambridge, but you reckon you have a shot at Imperial, UCL, Durham and Warwick? You've kinda proved yourself right there I suppose, kudos.(Original post by Martik)

Re: What universities to pick?of course you have the option to study at cambridge, they require A*AA and from what you have, you will have a greater oppertunity to some extent....(Original post by Martik)

anway you may surprise yourself as you have nothing to lose by applying the worst they could say is no, and the worst offer you may recieve may be warwick or ucl, which is far greater than any other offer ....

Re: What universities to pick?
From what I have heard from current students Warwick isn't the best place in the world to study Physics. Bath apparently has a very strong physics department a cross the broad and York is particularly strong in theoretical physics. They are both good overall uni's but it really rather depends on what sort of physics course you want because it really should be down to the course not the uni. Afterall you are going to spend 3/4 years studying those modules and that would be the over riding factor for me personally. Take a look at uni websites and make a decision after looking at the individual courses on offer.

Re: What universities to pick?Yes actually.(Original post by bramz19)

In the sense that Cambridge ask for module marks, whereas the others do not, and my module marks aren't that impressive, so it would be wise not to apply there. I expect that I will easily mess up an Oxbridge interview (If I was lucky to get one) since I'm quite a nervous fellow, and Imperial is my "punching above my own weight" option.
Warwick have said to me it's likely I could receive and unconditional offer from them. Durham will be tough to get into but if I do I would be extremely happy.
