Reapplying to UCAS for 2nd time?
Basically:
First time: Had a gap year (was planned)
Second time which is now: Coventry is my uni, just feel really homesick and the course I picked isn't for me its completely different to what I expected and they are not letting me change course and I have to do really good in my first year to secure the placement year I want.
Now thinking about dropping out and applying a third time but for uni's in London..
I'll be 20 in October *sigh* - Will they still except grades, or will I be classed as a mature student?
My plan is to work full time (working part time at the moment)
-Need to resit my GCSE in Maths to get a B
- Need to resit an A2 exam to get an A (was 4 marks away) - However I did resit it last year and only got 2 marks more rather than 4.
- Thinking to take another AS/A2 to boost my profile.
Just wondering if this seems like a viable option? I don't want to take another year out but I guess there's nothing else I can do...
In regards to SF, no money has dropped into my account yet or has been paid to me/the uni, so if I cancel it today will I still be entitled to 4 years?
Am asking because I want to take a placement year with my degree...Last edited by I<3Vans; 04-10-2011 at 12:03. -
Re: Reapplying to UCAS for 3rd time?I can't, the course is not what I expected and I need a really good first year grade, plus i'm commuting from London to Coventry which leaves no time at all to revise and I already have tests coming up in November.(Original post by Aack)
You would be surprised how fast years 2 and 3 go at uni.
Why don't you just stick it out at Coventry?
You will save a lot of money on fees because they go up for September 2012 entry iirc.
Fee's are fee's tbh. -
Re: Reapplying to UCAS for 3rd time?I don't really have to justify it to you but essentially I don't think you understand my main point, i'm not paying to to a course that I don't want to do and cannot do.(Original post by Aack)
It sounds to me like you are just making excuses.
Do you really want to be 24 by the time you finish education?
Before you say why did you pick it, there was a big mess up on results day with candidate numbers and all sorts which meant the uni's didn't get my results from retaking, got my old results, got put into clearing from that. My firm didn't want to hear anything about it and my insurance said they couldn't make a decision until the end of August, which is when all the clearing vacancies would of been gone.
Scraping past first year with 40% isn't acceptable for me, for me to otbain my placement year I have to do good in first year.
Age isn't a barrier, yeah it sucks but at the same time I would of had to repeat first year again as I was planning to transfer at the end.
Take it how you like tbh. -

Maybe uni just isn't for you then? -
Re: Reapplying to UCAS for 3rd time?Tbf, speaking from a similar position to the OP, if the OP doesn't want to go to uni x, then why should he or she?(Original post by Aack)
lol, I don't need you to justify it to me.
Maybe uni just isn't for you then?
In these times where we pay for education, why settle for something you don't want to do? Or settle at an institution where you don't want to study?
Age is no barrier to uni either, you see people from all ages doing various courses.
To the bold bit, what even makes you qualified to ask that question, with the lack of information presented?
You just sound like your trolling tbh, you have no proper insight to the OPs situation yet you continue make irrelevant comments and people wonder why TSR is the way it is. -
Re: Reapplying to UCAS for 3rd time?Lol please i'm done with taking your crap, as someone has already pointed out, theres no race.(Original post by Aack)

Sorry I haven't followed your traditional way of entering HE.
..and please don't respond if your just going to churn out more crap. Thankyou. -
Re: Reapplying to UCAS for 2nd time?
Its been done. If you have your plan OP then don't let a person's opinion on here stop you. Do what you have to do to get to where you need to get to. All the best and keep your head up high.
Make the right decision, rather than making the wrong decision and then regretting it when its too late.

It sounds as if the OP is going to uni "for the sake of it". -
Re: Reapplying to UCAS for 2nd time?
I just finished sixth form in June. I have started Pharmacy in uni and I want to drop out to apply for a different course for next September. I have a few questions:
1. I have almost reached the end of the first semester, tuition fees not due just yet. How do I go about cancelling my student finance and paying back whatever I owe? And would it affect my funding for my new course?
2. Is it possible to apply to just one uni as I already have the grades for that particular uni's course
Many Thanks -
Re: Reapplying to UCAS for 3rd time?Actually it sounds like OP made the wrong decision in picking their course (which is something that is frequently brought up on TSR) and is now asking for opinions on what to do about it?
OP, If you feel you really can't and don't want to do the course, the smart idea is to drop out and reapply, but I suggest you do this only if youre 100% sure otherwise you could regret it.Last edited by echeee; 14-12-2011 at 01:31.
