Re: LSE postgrad applicants 2012-13btw, are you american? I always wonder what GPA's Americans you get accepted generally have, seems to be quite a range anywhere from the minimum 3.5 to almost 4.0.. guess it depends some on the program!(Original post by FinLuv)
I got waitlisted and after 14 agonizing weeks finally got rejected. Let's see how this year goes, I've had time to improve on profile since then. -
Re: LSE postgrad applicants 2012-13Yeah well, I applied pretty late last year, that might have been my no. 1 folly.(Original post by slater88)
Ah, ok well you have a very strong background, I am surprised you did not get accepted last year!Last edited by FinLuv; 10-11-2011 at 04:17. -
Re: LSE postgrad applicants 2012-13Yep, I bet that's what did it.. well you're out of the gate early this year!(Original post by FinLuv)

Re: LSE postgrad applicants 2012-13Well Lse's the only university in England I'm applying to really, my other choices being: HEC paris, Carnegie Mellon, Duke University and Yale.(Original post by slater88)

I like the American flexibility a lot more as you take up courses from pretty much anything that takes your interest but the English system is a lot more focused, career oriented and LSE's a big name here so that'll come in handy with the job market. -
Re: LSE postgrad applicants 2012-13
Going to ask again, anyone here looking to study MSc Development Studies or MSc Development Management?
Also, I noted someone above is looking to apply for MPhil Development Studies. May I ask what your logic is for choosing the MPhil over MSc? Is your programme catered moreso towards those interested in pursuing a PhD? Does completing an MSc still give you the opportunity to do a PhD as I may be interested in doing so later in life. -
Re: LSE postgrad applicants 2012-13Your profile definitely sounds strong! How late was late?(Original post by FinLuv)

Re: LSE postgrad applicants 2012-13Mid january, I actually saw on the Facebook group that by then some 20 out of the 32 seats had been filled already(Original post by JohnKR)

Re: LSE postgrad applicants 2012-13
Hello, Applied for MSc Gender, Poverty and Inequalities. Second Choice MSc Gender, Development and Globalisation.
Sent my application in on October 10th, and only got my second e-mail last week- so a month later! Apparently they've been having problems with their system so that's why it took so long (I was sent a vague e-mail explaining this a couple of weeks ago.)
Is anyone applying for Graduate Support Scheme? I'm trying to write my supporting statement at the moment. I basically can't afford to go to LSE unless I get a high grant from them. I've been offered a place at Leeds, which I'll take if money falls through (and offer) but I've kind of set my heart on LSE...ho hum.Last edited by stormzstarrz; 14-11-2011 at 10:04. -
Re: LSE postgrad applicants 2012-13I'm pretty much int he same predicament, but I'm not applying fro Grad support from LSE and after my experience with it last year, I was told that apparently only people who have really overcome some kind of death defying adversity ever get granted scholarships, least that's what a friend whose currently studying there told me.(Original post by stormzstarrz)

Re: LSE postgrad applicants 2012-13
When you say scholarships do you mean the named scholarships that the departments give out? There are none of those for Gender, already looked into that :-(
There is some form of money/scholarship where if they think you really need the dosh, and they have granted you already the 10k they can do, is this what you mean? However like with everything on LSE and finances, it's frustratingly vague...
I'm worried with graduate support scheme there is a fine line between demonstrating you don't have the financial means, and being granted finance so it is possible, and them thinking you just don't have the means, and refusing financial support as they don't think your finances are in place, and therefore getting nothing! -
Re: LSE postgrad applicants 2012-13I was actually referring to a particular scholarship that the finance department provides and it pretty much takes care of tuition and living but again I've been told that unless you survived some major disaster or something, those kind of scholarships are hard to come by.(Original post by stormzstarrz)

Re: LSE postgrad applicants 2012-13*Fingers crossed*(Original post by slater88)
I wonder if anyone will be getting decisions before the Christmas break..though I know it is unlikely, that doesn't stop me from hoping, and checking the tracker everyday

Honestly this whole waiting process is pure torture. I have become unhealthily attached to my LSE tracker and Yahoo mail accounts -
Re: LSE postgrad applicants 2012-13Hmmmm.... That is not fair.. we should be getting offers too, but I doubt before January(Original post by bhob)
The undergrads have been getting offers this week... Even those who applied in October like us.
