Re: LSE postgrad applicants 2012-13The GMAT isn't required if you're from a university in the UK. It does help though especially if you undergrad degree wasn't very quantitative. I basically did my undergrad in the same subject (Accounting and Finance) so I assume they feel like I know what I need to know to do the course. My first choice was the MSc in Finance but I assume the reason I didn't get in was because I didn't take the GMAT and I didn't come from a top 20 uni background despite getting a 1st class honours.(Original post by slater88)
Congrats!! So wait, you did not have to take the GMAT for MSc Accounting & Finance? I thought it said on the website you did... I am taking a program in the accounting department next year as well, so look forward to seeing you!
Funniest thing is that my whole personal statement was about how I wanted to do finance and that I enjoyed those modules in my degree more than the accounting ones which I felt were way too easy and gave me no challenge and left me unmotivated. Once I was rejected from the Finance course I kind of resigned myself to the fact that I wouldn't get accepted to the A&F course (because of the personal statement) and that I would have to end up taking the GMAT and doing really well in it and reapplying next year instead.
Kind of still want to do that but from all acounts I hear that getting into the MSc Finance course is kind of a lottery and getting really high grades (750 and above) doesn't necessarily mean you'd be accepted so I thought against wasting another year for something that's not guaranteed.
And thanks, would be good to meet you and everyone else that made it in October.
Good luck to everyone who is still waiting. -

Re: LSE postgrad applicants 2012-13
Just to check, do we courier the docs to the following address:
Graduate Admissions,
The London School of Economics and Political Science,
Houghton Street,
London,
WC2A 2AE,
United Kingdom
Anything else I should state/write when I courier the docs? haha. I'm a little paranoid that they'll get lost and I won't get enrolled. XP -
Re: LSE postgrad applicants 2012-13why is London such a problem?(Original post by Qwert1y)
Just received an offer for the MSc in Sociology at LSE. Disadvantage, huge disadvantage is London in this case. Not my 1st preference Master. -
Re: LSE postgrad applicants 2012-13Maybe because accommodation in London is very expensive?(Original post by pocahontas5)
why is London such a problem? -
Re: LSE postgrad applicants 2012-13You know why (PM). I love more secluded, tranquil and irrelevance-free environments. Only solution would be Goodenough College, but again: it's not my preference Master, yet the curriculum is an interesting stepping stone towards the area in my preferred DPhil.(Original post by pocahontas5)

When did you submit your application and when did LSE respond? I submitted my application on the 24th January 2012 and received an offer today.
Also, what do you need to achieve in your current degree to obtain a place at LSE? I need a First Class Honours
I need a 2:1
