Re: worst teacher you had at school/college
My AS level physics teacher. He set homework about things we'd 'learn' next lesson and never mark it or even check whether anyone had done it. This homework was insanely long, with 5 entire exercises of a dozen questions each. He somehow came to the conclusion he had half the time to teach us the course so sped through it and never explained things properly.
In January, everyone underachieved and had to resit the exam in June. I was predicted an A and got C overall. I gladly dropped physics. -
Re: worst teacher you had at school/college
My friend's brother's year 9 maths teacher couldn't control the class. He complained that the girl that sat behind him kept on annoying him whilst he was trying to work. What was the teacher's solution? Move her to sit in front of him, so she just turned around and annoyed him instead.

Re: worst teacher you had at school/collegeDid he interfere with Dogs?(Original post by hbk4894)
who would you say has been your worst teacher , you dont have to say the name of the teacher if you dont want , you can do it if you want , but say why the person was a bad teacher
my 2 choices were both in primary , the first one which i am not going to name was this female teacher who was just really terrible , just kept shouting all the time , even made one boy cry once , and the other one was a male teacher who kept falling asleep in lessons and kept saying Good dog for some reason -
Re: worst teacher you had at school/college
Hmm... I would say, at my Uni, the ones that just lecture out of the notes that are offered to the students to download.
This semester? Ethics. He literally stands up there, with THE notes that we all downloaded and printed, reads them, and then says what's on the paper. Easy class though, and only gives quizes on Monday, so that's when i'm going to start showing up.
Problem is that there's a ton of material, so I have to read a lot, but we could just have class be "open discussion" and actually worth going to, but alas, we don't. -
Re: worst teacher you had at school/collegeThat sounds like a good time.(Original post by Welshbyrne)
My Year 7 Art teacher.
He actually used to stroke your neck if he thought you'd done a good piece of work.
He was a stone cold freak
Somebody should have been like, "Oooohhhh mmmm *squirms* oh yea, do it again. I want to get more answers. YEAAA!" in the middle of class; that would have gotten him to stop. -
Re: worst teacher you had at school/college
My S4 Standard Grade physics teacher. The class went from getting 80%+ on class tests in S3 to getting 1 or 2 marks.
The entire lesson was devoted to reading from the textbook, and doing formula after formula. If you needed help, you were to ask someone else in the class (who probably didn't get it either). He'd also disappear during lessons and only come back before the end.
He also once sent out letters to the entire class's parents, saying we hadn't done our homework (which was never set - challenging him led to him saying "it was that homework that I sent a few months back). The letters came during the Christmas holidays, and quite a few people in the class got in trouble from their parents for it.
Complaining to the science head did nothing. She simply said we had to put the effort it. None of the senior management at the school cared, saying we just "didn't like the teacher" and were "making it personal".
The highest anyone got in the exam was a 3. The class had some of the brightest people in the year in it, who all achieved 1's at SG and A's at Int2 in all other subjects. -
Re: worst teacher you had at school/collegeThis happened in my school too, lost like 4 teachers this way, they just couldn't handle unruly students. Guess that's more a reflection on the type of students they have to deal with now. I'd hate to be a teacher with some of the kids you see now.(Original post by Daniellejo.)
I've seen about 5 mental breakdowns in my school, all from teachers who couldn't control the students and culminating in either the teacher throwing chairs or breaking down in tears in front of the class. 4/5 of them left pretty sharpish. About 5 different explanations were given for the teacher who'd thrown the chair's absence lol. -
Re: worst teacher you had at school/college
In year 8 science, we got a new teacher: Mr Erwia, a South-African ex-professional rugby player turned teacher. Every single person in the class received 70% or above in tests - he was an astonishing teacher; very humble, inspiring and knew his subject well! I even gave him a card when left, lol.

He was replaced by an Indian, Mr Ramcharan, who had just come to the UK: he used to shout at us, throw chalk at people for talking and one day, whilst a girl at the front was talking to her friend, he smashed his stick on the table not realising her fingers were there. Everyone rushed to the head of year office, and he was never heard from again lol. Ah, good times! -
Re: worst teacher you had at school/collegelol, what were the explanations?(Original post by Daniellejo.)

Re: worst teacher you had at school/college
My first year economics lecturer was Brazilian and nobody could understand him at all. He used organge juice & apple juice to explain complex economic models, EVERY single week, EVERY single lecture..
About 2 months before our exams, he vanished. Apparently he went back to Brazil without saying a word. Nobody knows what happened to him.

Re: worst teacher you had at school/college
Oh dear, where to start? Haha
Year 7 Design & Technology teacher - Stroked my hair a number of times when I got an answer right; later convicted of paedophilia, following having a relationship with a year 10 student and was subsequently fired.
Year 7 Geography teacher - Went mental and threw a chair out of the window (from the top floor). Still teaches actually, haha.
Year 8 recurrent substitute teacher - Ineptitude would be complimentary. At the end of the year, we had been given a Scary Movie DVD to watch as a treat for something or other. He put the DVD on, having read the cover work instructions, but screamed with anger every time we laughed and then called the head teacher to tell us off for laughing at a comedic film.
Year 10 & 11 Drama - Incredibly patronising person. Wouldn't let us say "Christ!" as a profanity in a piece of drama because it offended her, despite other drama teachers advising us that it would seem more credible to an examiner. Insisted we put in 6 hours of after-school work on a performance that was not conducive to our grade, and sent scathing letters home when we had prior engagements. Questioned the worth of several students lives (in chastisement)
Year 11 ICT - Instead of teaching us the ICT course that we had all got Fs and Us in the mock exam on, she threw us an ICT-related word-search each lesson and taught her A-level class instead.
Year 12 Sociology (current) - First impressions aren't good. Told us with great conviction that Enoch Powell was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom in 1968. If you know who Enoch Powell was, you should be crying by now, either with laughter or sadness. -
Re: worst teacher you had at school/college
My current biology teachers aren't really any good. They're both really ditzy, so I have to self-teach myself the course. You know you've reason to be worried when your teacher says, "Every time I read one of your essays, I learn something.."
That said, they're both lovely people and wouldn't change biology teachers for the world.
That's the story for many of my bad teachers - they can't teach, but are lovely people. -
Re: worst teacher you had at school/college
An ICT teacher who was ex army, head shaven with bulging muscles. Treated us like we were his recruits
No time for any mistakes, expected you to know everything already and called you dumb if you didn't. Literally did not teach us anything just barked various instructions and woe betide you if you were confused or needed any help. Once picked up the computer monitor and told a boy it would be heading for his face if he didn't shut up. When you're aged 12 that's actually quite scary

Re: worst teacher you had at school/collegeI had that exactly, except mine was an ex-Royal Navy Falklands War veteran who once gave the class a lecture on how one of his friends from the war became an alcoholic and died just because someone said they were getting drunk at the weekend. Bearing in mind, that this was only Year 9!(Original post by MyJunkIsYou)
