Go for it. More the better!

    What have you applied for?

It's best to be prepared early, rather than get to UEA in september and find out that all the other philosophy students are already being fitted for their maccy d uniforms!

I wasn't a big fan of the premium ensuite rooms to be honest, the one I saw seemed a little bit dingy. I've gone straight for the zigzags though, I've got a thing for mahooosive windows and they were the closest I could get. Plus I save a bundle on rent so more can be spent on sweeeeets...amongst other things.
I've committed a huge sin, admittedly... I firmed UEA before I'd actually seen the uni. I'm just going to put all my trust in the internet for now and drag myself along to see the campus when I can. I should be ashamed, but I've been to Norwich and loved it, plus I've never heard anyone really say a bad word about UEA, so I thought why the hell not. I consider myself lucky they've given me a place, they ask for AAB-ABB and I've got ABC. How can you not love a uni when they're that nice to you, eh?

    (Original post by Liam93)
Oh wow. UEA definitely the one. What other places did you apply for, out of curiosity?

And haha, Subway is where it's at! You get to be a 'Sandwich Artist'..I mean how cool is that? But that sounds awesome. I'll miss humanities subjects, but science/medical stuff all the way.

And I'm on a gap year after dropping out from History at Kent. Ahh a dropout. :getmecoat: So yeah lucky to have all my results and that already, I wish I was super dooper smart though! How about you?
Maybe I'll train myself up for Subway then, an Art A level must come in handy when pulling my best artistic moves at the counter.

Don't feel too bad though, I'm a dropout too. I even had Kent as my firm at one point before deciding it wasn't the uni for me and I ended up in Liverpool instead... only to find out that wasn't quite the subject for me either. Ah, indecision.

I applied for UEA (x2), sussex, royal holloway and essex. What about you?

I would but I really hate subway. Actually seeing a complete stranger touching up my food sends me into little gross-out spasms.

Ahh I'm the other way round. I'm doing humanities but I'm gonna miss science/maths (bit of a physics nerd :emo:)

Ooooh dropout! You're so edgy! I'm gap yearing also. It is a very long and boring process. You going anywhere on your gap?

I must say the campus has caused a fair amount of controversy in my family, with me and my mum bigging up the brutalist architecture while my sister and my dad shout "it's ugly!" across the dinner table. If you like concrete and not much else and you will like UEA.

Exact same thing happened to me! ABC and still got in. It just seems like the nicest uni ever. I want to give it a cuddle.

It's not just about the concrete! There is the lake, and the bunny rabbits and most of chancellors drive is full of brand spanking new buildings.

Ahh. I'm not the only one. I never visited Kent before I went, as it was my insurance. It was really nice there and I enjoyed my time and the people there, (even if I did get called northern. I'm from the midlands, fml. ) But as you say, subject wasn't for me! What subject did you do before, at Liverpool? How did you find it there?

Oh wow, double the chance of getting in at UEA. And really? I. LOVE. Subway, haha. I can see your point, but that's why they wear gloves I guess. Each to their own. I always get odd looks for weird orders I sometimes pick. Worth it though.

Physics was alright, but I had lame teachers and wasn't a huge fan of the maths and stuff So Biology/Chemistry ftw.

I know right. Ahh nice, it is a bit. Glad had some social since my friends have been back from uni for the holidays, it's bliss. Back to loneliness again soon. Countryside sucks for that! Ah well. I'm visiting my sister in Japan in June, which will be awesome. I'm really excited. How about you? Have you got much planned?

I did enjoy the lake, and the art gallery place, but I have yet to see the bunny rabbits Is it true that if you catch one and take it to the SU you get a free drink?

When I was doing my application last year (which I pulled last minute) I actually applied for 3 courses. Needless to say I've been a fan of UEA for a while.

Physics was awesome! Then again the basis of my class' revision was called "sexy physics" and involved making everything we possibly could into a sexual innuendo. We had terrible teachers for chemistry...they were all really weird as well.

Ahhhh solitude, my old friend. Inner south London's seriously no better. Japan sounds amazing though. I am off to canada for a month in May which I'm excited for but at the same time terrified about

Most of them live near the residences- in the grass by Nelson Court and around Britten/Paston. I think its just a rumour- they run away when you try and chase them.

I'm a Londoner but i live in outer London but I've spent most of my life wanting to live more centrally- I spent most of my gap year in central london and didn't get bored of it.

Have you made us your firm or insurance choice yet? If not, your student number will not yet be activated to apply for accommodation.

It may also take a few days for this info to get from UCAS to us here in the Accommodation Office so if you only accepted recently then this might be why it's not working yet. PM with your details and I can look into this further for you if you are still having problems. I'll need your name, date of birth and UEA student/application number.
It seems to be working now so I probably was just being impatient but thank you for your help.

The concrete doesn't bother me one bit. As Jelly said, THE LAKE! How many other universities have a lake and a view over one of the most beautiful parts of the country? I can't wait to start now, I think my friends and family are getting a bit sick of me talking about how great everything is.

Well I'm from the Midlands too, and in Liverpool I used to get called posh! And I did Politics and Philosophy at Liverpool. I firmed Kent for English, my insurance was Brunel, decided I didn't want to go to either (and I was a bit worried I wouldn't get my A in English, which I didn't), so ended up getting an unconditional from Liverpool too, because I had AC at A level and AC at AS already. Then, once I was there, realised I loved philosophy but hated politics, and they said there was no way I could switch to English and Philosophy, so they gave me no choice but to withdraw. Damn them.

That's good then. My parents are on a gardening mission this Easter holiday. Don't think my dad is enjoying it, and I'm wondering where we'll put 18 "giant" pumpkins if they all grow. Ummmm....Wow, that's really good! I'm hoping to pass my test before I get to uni, not sure how likely that is. My birthday's in December so I was worried about snow as well.
Oh cool, have you started yet and yeah I would be slightly worried if my parents were growing that many pumpkins

Haha, I didn't do that much. But I guess that's a pretty big sign! It's going to be sooo good though.
I dance when I'm happy, it's rather enjoyable. It is, that thought is going to get me through the days without school. I'm so excited.

Haven't started lessons but I've been out with my dad a few times. Yeah, our garden is in no way big enough to hold them all. So we're forcing other people to take them.

Well, I've applied to Southampton and Sheffield, unfortunately got rejected by both. However, I have settled on UEA to study MSC in Marketing this fall, hopefully!

Guess I'll leave my bunny-catching gear at home then

Central London is amazing I'm just really bad with it. My whole life I've been a 10 minute tube journey away and yet I never really got to know the place -I only really go uptown to go to the galleries or the theatre. I think it partially comes from having been up there for some distinctly average nights out and realising I could've had a much better and cheaper time round the corner from my house. I've picked up a certain level of disdain for the oxford street/tottenham court road clubs and will generally avoid going to them if I can help it. That said, Southbank is probably my favourite place in the world.

Ah I see. I've never been clubbing along Oxford Street/Tottenham Court Road- although its only about 40 mins there from my house in the day, after about midnight it would take 3 hours to get back as there are no nightbuses that go to where I live and I don't live walking distance from a tube station either. So I've mostly only seen that way during the day, and on my gap year I got to explore Bayswater/Notting Hill, Tower Hill and Camden all during the day (although I've seen a fair ammount of Chalk Falm/Camden in the early part of the night)

Ah, what made you do that last minute? Just didn't feel right? But yeah same, it's so cool. What accommodation are you going for?

Haha, that's pretty standard. Got to love it when a teacher would say something and then we'd all laugh because they've not realised what they've just implied. So many funny times. And ahh that's not good, we had some weird ones too though. Guess a certain type of person does that job then

And really? I would have thought it would have been, atleast you probably have more options at least?? Albeit expensive I imagine And awesome! What are you going to do there? And yeah I can imagine! Will be awesome experience though, right? Will make some great stories.

Haha, oh dear. But overall sounds like it was a pretty good decision, it's nice knowing what you want to do for sure, isn't it? But eurrgh the thought of studying politics makes me shudder, haha. Damn them indeed though, bright side is, you get to go to UEA (which is way better )

    No problem.

Ah, unlucky. UEA is the place to be anyway. I mean look at all the other cool people going! Everyone is so friendly. And you can do it!

I'm going to study 'Operating Department Practice', lol. Quite a niche course But I am excited!

And I know right. Glad to see someone who recognises him. I have a slight man crush on him, not going to lie. He is the bomb in Entourage.

If this is true, then my mission for my four years at UEA is to befriend a rabbit and take it in. No idea how this would work in reality though, I think I'd get more than a few weird looks.
