Re: Engineering Applicants (2012 entry)Yeah it's changed. I think quite a few unis have upped their requirements.(Original post by IcedTea&PotNoodle)
Have surrey raised their Beng Mech Eng requirements because I thought it was ABB not AAB?

Re: Engineering Applicants (2012 entry)I didn't know that, what others have changed theirs?(Original post by Willheath)

Re: Engineering Applicants (2012 entry)Nottingham has gone up and in their email it said the goverment had changed how they fund some courses, so I imagine a number of other unis have done the same thing.(Original post by IcedTea&PotNoodle)

Re: Engineering Applicants (2012 entry)
hello guys. do you think university of liverpool is good for mechanical engineering? i have been put off by the fact that liverpool is ranked 27th in the guardian league table for mech engineering which is below birmingham city university and brunel university!
if anyone has studied from university of liverpool can you tell me if the course is good? did you get a job easily? -
Re: Engineering Applicants (2012 entry)I havent been to the uni but I can say that the league tables are very unreliable.(Original post by umaird)

Re: Engineering Applicants (2012 entry)I can't give you an actual answer but what I will tell you is that I know someone who was deciding between liverpool and lancaster for electrical engineering. They said that the engineering department at liverpool was fantastic. But they finished university about three years ago.(Original post by umaird)

Re: Engineering Applicants (2012 entry)I already knew about Nottingham, I was just making sure it wasn't any of my other choices. I'm no longer applying to surrey anyway, so It's not too bad at the moment.(Original post by Willheath)

Re: Engineering Applicants (2012 entry)So you're upset because it's in the top thirty? I'm not sure about Birmingham city, but Brunel has a very good engineering school, it's not as though Liverpool is below London Met.(Original post by umaird)

Re: Engineering Applicants (2012 entry)I went to the university on the EES on the CAD day and the introductory day. I was in the mecheng dept. it looked OK, not brilliant though, but it would make a good insurance(Original post by umaird)

Re: Engineering Applicants (2012 entry)why would you want to go to Ryerson! hi I am Pakistani too btw but live abroad right now! try UBC, their requirements are low (I am doing IB) and they are 30th best uni for engineering (or thats what i heard lol). depends on what course you are doing, if A levels then a good uni asks for much more but Ryerson came to our school and they didnt wow me so (they were alright) much but yeah your choice!(Original post by Yoghurt_facex)
Anybody know anything about Ryerson and its engineering department? Are the facilities good enough for Mech and Chem Engineering? -
Re: Engineering Applicants (2012 entry)*Hi-fi* pakistani.(Original post by Elmo_83)

yeah I've had a look around at other good unis, but the thing is their international fees is quiet high as compared to Ryerson which is exactly why I had to cut UofT out of my list. I have relatives in toronto so I dont have to pay for residence. and yes yes I have seen UBC in quiet alot of top uni (eng) rankings. your lucky.
I could always go for my Masters in Eng in a respected university when I start workin after my bachelors, for now thats fees sounds real high.
Is Ryerson that bad? I heard they have a co-op program so you have a chance of findin a good job in your fourth year. plus good scholarships.
