It depends on what sort of programming you want to do, what machine you have, whether you want to pay for a compiler or not, what you want to do afterwards.
To be honest, once you've learnt one it is relatively easy to pick up another language.

Not really..I find logic and recursive programming hard to understand. Especially once a problem is presented and you actually have to use it. Hate it really.

OP I don't know why you want to learn programming. Care to explain a bit on that part?

GeomLab is a good start.
It will not take long to complete the 8 worksheets given on the website, and you will come away with plenty of the skills used certainly in all the programming languages I have come across, including Functional ones.

Apart of that, .NET languages are always great for beginners simply because the recommended Integrated Development Environment is just so good. VB or C# would get my vote.
