Re: The "waiting for news is driving me crazy" uberthread 2011-12Yeah, some unis don't give out feedback on the letter because it's more work than them, and also not many people read em now. Previously UCAS sent paper letters rather than the emails you get now, so people did read them as checking Track wasn't as common.(Original post by stifa)
"Your application is no longer being considered by The University of Birmingham for Computer Systems Engineering, H602 because either they have decided not to offer you a place or your application has been withdrawn. The reason is given below.
Your application has been unsuccessful"
...and then follows some general info from UCAS...
However, if you really want to know them email the uni and ask for feedback. You still may get something general like "we have loads of applicants and they met our requirements better than you" which won't tell you much, but they may be more helpful.
Nope. They may be working through in some crazy order you don't know - my sister's uni once sent exam results out in order of how far you lived from the uni. Even if they just have a pile, it could be that new applications go on top!(Original post by Jabberwox)
Should I be worried that people are being given out conditional offers for the same course as me at the same university, when I already have the correct grade requirements yet still haven't heard anything?
Inclusive has the same route as the word "included". So your AS results are "included". However, you can't count points twice, so if you're carrying the subject on to A2 the AS has no points.(Original post by Niiiiiiiiiick)
If an offer says "This offer is inclusive of cached AS points" does that mean that any points I have from doing just AS subjects count towards the total tariff points i need?
eg AS History dropped has points.
Taking maths, English and physics on to full A Level means you can't count those.
It depends when unis work. There's no set times - many will work 9-5 weekdays, but others may work evenings and weekends. As it comes up to Christmas offers may come at weird times as admissions tutors may start working longer.(Original post by Melikeyflute)
Does track update on weekends as well or do the unis give the admissions officers a break?
The other thing is that whilst the admissions tutor decides on offers, usually it will be some kind of admin assistant the processes it onto Track. These tend to be junior members of staff who therefore may work more unsocialable hours.
Sometimes the emails can get held up, either by UCAS or your email provider. But each offer will result in an email.(Original post by Jabberwox)
Has anyone ever had it where they get no email notification but something has changed on their Track? So far I've only been checking my email inbox... I am not sure whether I should be checking both just in case... -
Re: The "waiting for news is driving me crazy" uberthread 2011-12I sent them an email only hours after I received the rejection. Considering the fact that it's Birmingham, I'll probably get a reply like that...(Original post by Juno)

Re: The "waiting for news is driving me crazy" uberthread 2011-12If you do get an unhelpful reply you might be able to send a specific question about what you think is the weakest part of you application and ask if that was responsible. Like "was it the fact that my AS grades were EEE and you want AAA". They still might not tell you, but you're making less work for them so they might do.(Original post by stifa)

well see, I implied international students applying independently, so there!

Re: Should I be worried?I'm just a randomer with no particular reason to read the thread, but congrats! I can imagine how crushing it felt to think you'd got rejected after you initially thought you'd been accepted.(Original post by sarahwarahbarah)
I thought i'd update this just in case anyone else has similar problems, I called admissions this morning and they said that it had been entered incorrectly on track and I do have an unconditional offer so they'll change it to that now

Re: The "waiting for news is driving me crazy" uberthread 2011-12
I'm feeling down about UCAS now
I know I've only applied to 3 unis (gonna add in other two choices later) but I sent off my application 5 weeks ago now and have still only had acknowledgements from 2/3 of the unis. Anyone know when Durham tend to give offers out for Physics? I just want an offer!

Re: The "waiting for news is driving me crazy" uberthread 2011-12Damn them, they must have lied(Original post by toofaforu)
durham really? i looked at the applicants thread from last year and there were quite a few offers in november

Haha, they left me dangling for ages last year and then rejected me. Maybe they pick out the strongest first and leave the plebs like me til the end...
From their email: "In Durham, the admissions process involves consideration by both the department(s) and the college to which you have applied. Departments will consider all applications as quickly as possible but in the interests of fairness some decisions will need to wait until we have received all applications which were submitted by the UCAS deadline of 15 January. Re: The "waiting for news is driving me crazy" uberthread 2011-12A lot of unis wait until the deadline before giving any offers. Durham and Warwick can make people wait ages. 5 weeks is nothing really.(Original post by vedderfan94)

Thank you kind madam -
Re: The "waiting for news is driving me crazy" uberthread 2011-12It's just really bugging me though. There are people who sent their application off after I did and already have 3 or 4 offers for Physics. I've applied to Lancaster too and some have already been invited to a visit day whereas I haven't even had an acknowledgement.(Original post by Juno)

Re: The "waiting for news is driving me crazy" uberthread 2011-12Thanks so much(Original post by britchick)
Lucky! (yes, it does
)
My friend has got a conditional offer with AS points inclusive as well. For her Sociology course, she only needs 280 UCAS points including AS so her fourth AS level in which she got like a B or C already takes up quite a large section of that!
Well done
Edit: I mean, if you did do an extra AS level (one you dropped once you reached A2 levels) then those points will go towards your conditional offer
Yeah I took AS level English last year and got a C (which i dropped), which is 40 points, and I take AS Geography this year too, which along with my 3 A levels should be fairly easily enough to get 320 tariff points! woo!

Re: The "waiting for news is driving me crazy" uberthread 2011-12Amen to that, my BMAT results come out next week as well(Original post by Schlegel)
It seems UCL and York are giving out offers/rejections...and oxford interviews.
Next week is bound to be tumultuous for me.

Re: The "waiting for news is driving me crazy" uberthread 2011-12I've had the card in the post, but no email so no I don't think they send them. Waiting for a decision though, not sure if that will be by email or letter!(Original post by lausa22)
Does anyone know if Edge Hill sends e-mails? Their website says they send you an acknowledgement card, then roughly 10 days later a decision letter.
So it sounds like they don't send e-mails?
