I know, I'm on my study leave and I just can't seem to concentrate! I know I should be working my ass off for those 34 points but I feel so sleepy every time I try and study something.

btw, is there an Edinburgh firmers thread somewhere?

First: Congratulations for your offer! 39 is tough indeed. but I guess Edinburgh sees a chance that you'll make it=)

then: it depends on the year and your fee status
For Home/ EU, this is how someone explained it to me. I have met way to many reps to remember who it was :

They generally don't like gap years, because it limits the number of students they can accept the following application cycle.
if, however, they give out too many offers this cycle (i.e. more applicants than anticipated meet the conditions of their offers) they might be more leanient. This is due to the fact that they have some kind of financial loss (I think it's a fine) if they take on more students than they were aloted by the government.

and if you are a fee-paying international, I have no clue, because I zoned out during those parts^^ I hope this helps though
Nah, he's not international or he would've gotten the standard 34 with 5-5-5 at HL offer that they give to internationals. They're also a bit more lenient with internationals if they miss their offers, I've heard- say 33 points, or 34 with 4-6-7 at HL, and there's a strong chance they still let you in.

I know I shouldn't be complaining, with their generous offer of 34, but... I'm feeling so stressed about results already Do you think they'd let you in if you missed your offer by 2 points?

None that I'm aware of. I'd be well disappointed if I miss the offer...

Oh wow, for us all being on the waiting list, I hope the wait is worth it. But logically, they would not put too many people on that list right?. That'd be a bit irrational. And aslo, I think that for those of us who will get rejections, no need to decribe not only the disappointment, but the anger that we'll be feeling as well. Luck to you guys, we're all sailing on the same boat right now, struggle to prevent from sinking

I'm thinking the same as you, whats the point in having a list of say 30 people when the average of past years only 15 decline, I think the list will be similar to the average number that normally decline, so everyone waiting I think has a really good chance of getting a place.

Great minds think alike^^One thing though, due to the fees change this year, Edinburgh has undergone a wave of unexpected applications, so my thought is taht less people are going to decline. Let's hope this wll not happen(sorry for my selfishness, but well, this is a cruel world for all of us^^)

See Im applying from France, and the system, I thiught, was getting really bad. Now I start to reconsider my view

    You?
Have you been on the visit day?
Awesome. Haven't been on the visit day as of yet; want to go next week but not sure if I can make it. Have you visited?

I thought less people would apply due to fees going up and more next year due to the really good bursary for UK students

breathe: bad air out, good air in. so. look at your exam schedule. if yours is anything like mine, you will have a few gaps in there, between exams (sometimes these are also knows as "week ends" ) meaning: you do NOT need to be able to recite the curriculum for all 6 (if even...) subjects by the time you sit paper 1 for english on may 2
I was extremely motivated over spring break, but last week I couldn't pull myself together to study.
This week, i have mocks....in the subjects I have my exams the last week (Bio, Econ) which is confusing...I should study for languages and Math -.- (insert mini freak-out here)
and the weather is just trying to reinforce the reason I'm going to Scotland in the first place: it's way to hot/humid in this city -.-
    now, my rant is over

I have no clue whether they'd accept two points less. This is what I do when I'm afraid that I'd miss my 35 points: I think about how I expected a 38 or 39 point offer and how I saw at least a slight chance of achieving that. from then I extrapolate that I should be able to get 35. it shouldn't be different for you

and stop youself from thinking that this little detail which makes you story different from mine will make allllll the difference in the end. Breathe!
