Re: TSR SquashCool, thanks! My friend and I have kept an accurate tab on our rivalry - he leads the Head to Head 10-7, but I've managed to outlast him in all our 5 set encounters - accuracy and controlling the T does seem to be an important part of controlling the game against hard hitters.(Original post by Mr Bee)
Yeah, kinda a long rivalry between us :P
I too struggle against hard hitters, but, I think if a drop comes into play, lob it back to try and slow play down. Go for accuracy with your shots too!
I lose points from getting stuck behind my opponent and not being able to get in front of them before they hit a hard drive...

How do you keep tab?(Original post by Krish4791)

Well, every time we agree to play a competitive match or play against each other in a tournament, our scores are recorded (along with date that we played and where we played)

Oh! I am tempted to get a notebook to record my scores and length of games.(Original post by Krish4791)

Sad I know, but all the pros do it

Oh! I am tempted to get a notebook to record my scores and length of games.
Sad I know, but all the pros do it
1) foul serves
2) failures to return a serve
3) in-play unforced errors, eg hitting the tin, hitting it high, missing it altogether
4) balls hit down the middle of the court
then try and score lower each week. If you can get them to add up to less than 20 you will probably win most matches. -
Haven't got a reliable enough squash friend... :\(Original post by py0alb)

I just played, but couldn't get anyone to record but seriously. I played terrible!(Original post by py0alb)

2-0 to him.
11-0. 4-11.
He was 3 years older and I just kept hitting bad shots, no power, no accuracy and it was awful..
Then a played someone 2 years younger.
11-9 to him. :O
It was 9-8 to me, then I seem to lose it and make terrible mistakes.
I seem to have no match experience, so it all goes downhill.. Help me? -
That someone was very patient, watchful and helpful! Lol(Original post by Mr Bee)

How did you get someone to record all that?

Re: TSR Squashits very easy. Go alone in the court and make a rally, keep hitting on type of shot, such as back hand smash, and then front hand smash, then backhand low shot, then front hand low shot, then drop shots both back and front. Do them as much as you can. And practice until the the point that you can easily hit on the spot you want to, and exact.(Original post by Mr Bee)

And stamina is also a crucial factor, go to gym and make yourself run, also when you practice alone make yourself run aswell. -
Never really thought about going to a court on my own :\(Original post by UserInvalid)

Re: TSR SquashSure it does - I did this for about 2 hours every week and perfected my forehand; I use that as my main weapon now; I can hit the ball wherever I want!(Original post by Mr Bee)

Really? I couldn't go to a court on my own :\ What routine did you do?(Original post by Krish4791)

Re: TSR SquashFirst started off by practising soft forehand down the line shots - then I began to hit the ball progressively harder, making sure that I found the same spot. Another co-ordination and stamina building exercise is to have an entire rally with yourself all over the court(Original post by Mr Bee)

Yeah, I mean, it is my back hand that I would practise, but for how long would you say? It is in 40 minute slots and £4 a throw I think! Including lights.(Original post by Krish4791)

I mean, I would practise backhand drives, bh volleys and drops most of all. -
Re: TSR SquashI trained for about half an hour each day by myself, so i think that would be sufficient.(Original post by Mr Bee)

So £4 a day? For how long? Also, did it help a lot?(Original post by Krish4791)
