Stressed?
Recently I have been feeling so very very stressed.

But I spoke to someone and now I feel a little better.
So this is what I'm offering you. If you're stressed, feel free to talk about why in this forum and maybe you will find someone with similar problems to yourself and together, we can find ways to help each other!

Re: Stressed?what if most of the problems are things that are kind of out of your control? for example, i missed my uni offer so am living at home and trying to get a job, which hasn't proved fruitful as yet. my parents live abroad, and i am in the family home by myself, learning to drive, but haven't got my licence yet...what do i do in this situation? don't feel as though you have to answer if you don't want to, i just don't really have anyone around to talk to and i am a bit stressed out by the whole thing!(Original post by The Real Quaid)
I find stepping back from everything and actually thinking about what is bothering me usually helps; I make a mental list and find that I've been getting worked up over small things
Also, don't worry about things that are out of your control - it's a waste of your energy

Re: Stressed?I know jobs are hard to come by in the current climate, so don't feel that you're on your own - you just have to be persistent and resilient. What kind of work are you looking for?(Original post by Hotsauce)

Can you not go abroad for a little while to be around your parents or hang out with friends more?
I'm sure you'll find lots of similar people on TSR who'll be able to offer you some great advice - make your own thread and watch them all appear! -
Re: Stressed?haha yeah, good idea... i'm literally looking for anything..problem is transport as i'm not even anywhere near a busstop...it's a tricky one! oh i know, it's hard for everyone our age..i guess it would be a little easier to have parents around though...(Original post by The Real Quaid)

literally all of my friends have gone to uni, so that's not really an option. going abroad is potentially an option, but i couldn't get a job there either as it's a poor country..certainly i could go and sunbathe and do not much all day, but i don't really want to be doing that....
i guess i'm lucky in a lot of ways...how many 18 year olds get to live in a nice big house without parents and responsibilities, but sometimes it does feel a bit lonely and hopeless!
well that's just lovely.(Original post by Yawn11)

Release my own "hot sauce" to cool myself down.

Re: Stressed? What about working from home? I've never really considered the idea properly as I have bus stops around, but I did once apply to be a transcriber (I think that was the name anyway) where a company sends you an audio track and you type it up for them - I typed up the demo that they sent me but they recommended I invest in a foot pedal (according to Google Shopping they're around £50 http://www.google.co.uk/#q=transcrip...w=1024&bih=596) if I was to actually take up the role...I abandoned the idea there and then, but I could've done that quite easily(Original post by Hotsauce)

You could always do some voluntary work as well, which would look great on your cv/uni application and it'd give you something to do
If it's a poor country your money should go quite far over there which sounds quite evil, but it's true
You could say you're lucky - but you'll be doing your own washing and cleaning etc, which I doubt most 18 year old wills be :P
The internet's a great place to hang out for a few months

Re: Stressed? Thanks for all your suggestions..it's really sweet of you. The transcriber thing sounds quite interesting actually. How did you go about applying for a position? And would this mean applying for every single job, or do companies tend to send you several tracks to transcribe?(Original post by The Real Quaid)

Yeah, I think i may well go home for a bit and and you say, do some voluntry stuff. It's actually very expensive, more so than the UK, even though it's a fairly poor (by Western standards) African country. Do you think it would still be possible to do transcriber work out of the country?
And yeah, TSR has certainly helped with the boredom

If you search on Google for transcriber jobs you should find a few sites, the first one I found said they were hiring http://www.easywaystoextracash.com/t...tion-jobs.html - they'll most likely send you a demo to test if you can do it or not, and if you can then I expect the company will send you a few tracks to do - it might be worth contacting them to explain your situation (wanting a job, no transport, etc) and I'm sure they'll take you on
I think they'd probably send the audio by eMail so you could technically do the job anywhere in the world so long as there's internet access
Wow, I'm quite naive
but then I have heard stories about inflation causing prices to rocket in the space of a couple of days (and jokes about prices quadrupling in shops before you've got to the checkout!)

haha, i think that was reparation germany....
but no, there are some crazy prices about there...fruit and vegetables especially. it's like £4 for a single carrot, or £16 for a bunch of leeks. no idea why.

Re: Stressed?
I feel so stressed out and depressed these days.
I made the stupid decision of going to a sixth form alone where I knew no one and nearly all my of my friends went to a different college. Due to various reasons (http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/show....php?t=1789594), I left the sixth form and now go to a different college (which is really ****) and I feel like I can't cope.
I'm doing all 3 sciences and Maths and I'm finding it crazy difficult, we've had so many tests in Maths and I haven't passed a single one! I also miss my friends SO much
I really regret not going to the same college as my friends and I can't stop thinking about it :/
Any advice? -
Re: Stressed? You've taken the hardest A Levels there are in my opinion, to juggle that with being in a new environment its bound to be hard. I suggest meeting up with your friends once a week, every week so that you can gain a few hours of comfort. Dedicate at least 1 hour a night to studying and concentrate on the areas you find most difficult and work your way down until you find you get to the simple things. Then go back, and do it all again.(Original post by HelloGoodbye)

A Levels are possibly and in my opinion most probably the hardest years of your life. To do that without your friends is hard. I know because 3 of my friends have gone to college and I see only one of my friends a few times a week around sixth form. But every Saturday or Friday me and my friends meet up and it helps! It gets me through the week too because I have something to look forward too.
Also, try to enjoy your time at sixth form, try to make new friends and don't be afraid to talk to a mentor or someone you can trust if it all gets too much. Talking to someone in person realllllly helps. Trust me, I'm going through similar.
I hope it gets better. I'm sure you will get used to it! Its only October! Stay positive. All the best.
