Re: University of Hertfordshire applicants 2012Just use your UCAS personal ID, worked for me.(Original post by GeeCee)
Has anyone else tried to apply for accomm with their UCAS no but not been able to get in?? Where do I get the 8 digit number??? -
Re: University of Hertfordshire applicants 2012Hey(Original post by Winterbells)
UCAS ID not working for me, so I've emailed for assistance. What a pain.
Not liking the sound of the very quiet deHav campus. What's all that about?
I just called the admissions for my 8digit number and they gave it to me.
and about de hav, i have a friend who goes to hertfordshire and i asked him if its true that its all quite and boring and he was shocked to hear that because he lives on college lane and and he always hears stories that de hav is the best, apparently they are always having parties down there. So i wouldnt worry too much lol -
Re: University of Hertfordshire applicants 2012Just got an email from Herts informing me that accommodation applications are open and it had my student ID too. So everyone should have one too/ be getting one soon.(Original post by Winterbells)
I think using the UCAS ID isn't working for the accommodation bit any more and there's no avoiding phoning/emailing them for help. -

Thanks for this. I emailed accomm people last night and they replied (by email) today saying they haven't got me on their records
but they're trying to sort it out and will let me have details asap for logging in. They also said this:
Please do not worry, you will not be at a disadvantage. We will not begin allocating accommodation until this issue has been resolved. -
Re: University of Hertfordshire applicants 2012Hi Pop_tart(Original post by Pop_tart)
No not at all
You can apply whatever your status is, it is just that firmers will be processed first - all the non firmers will be processed once they have firmed there offer.
Not complaining, but I just noticed you said on another thread that you can only apply for accommodation if you've made Herts your firm choice
http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/show....php?t=1985076
so I'm wondering, given that I haven't yet firmed Herts, if this explains why I'm not on their records and haven't yet received an 8 digit ID number. I'm probably going to give them a ring, but if you could clarify the situation, that would be great, thanks. -
Re: University of Hertfordshire applicants 2012
I haven't been on this in ages.
Ahhh I only just realized that the course I changed to is actually on College Lane, whereas I only looked at De Havilland when I went to the open day.
Can anyone who's seen the campus recommend the best accommodation? (I'm just looking for typical Uni halls.) -
Re: University of Hertfordshire applicants 2012My course is on College Lane but I'm still going for de Hav accommodation - just because it was what felt right for me and the accommodation at College Lane just felt a bit.. ick, for me personally..but obviously many people liked it.(Original post by rednaxula)

Download the guide from the Herts accommodation site - that tells you a bit about each Halls + their rooms - also the prices give a slight indication of the quality of each (or that's what I thought).
de Hav, Telford + Roberts Way seem to be the most popular from what I've read both on here, Twitter + Facebook for Herts applicants..
Since accommodation won't be confirmed 'til you get a unconditional, there's an open day in June - you could always sign up to that again and just visit the accommodation?
-
Re: University of Hertfordshire applicants 2012Well I was thinking of living at De Hav, but to be honest as long as there is good accommodation in College Lane I'd rather live there for the ease of walking to buildings.(Original post by Apixe)

I've looked at the website and I've got a prospectus, but I'd rather be able to see it. I did look at pop tarts pictures but I couldn't see enough to make a decision yet. I'm definitely going to the open day to have a look round, but I was thinking of applying for accommodation in the next few weeks to have a better chance of getting my first choice. -
Re: University of Hertfordshire applicants 2012It's only about a 10 min walk? I actually parked at de Hav on the last open day, and walked over to College Lane 'cause I wanted to know what it was like.(Original post by rednaxula)

I know what you mean, I did find a 360 tour of Herts accom by googling - but I'm not 100% sure if any of the College Lane halls were on there but I'll try and find it again and let you know if I see any.
I'm sure somebody will have some photos somewhere - it just depends if they read this thread >_<'
Try some of the Herts Facebook pages? There's obviously the Freshers page but I'm sure there's an accommodation page too, perhaps you could ask on there for pics..

Click on the top 'View College Lane Campus Map' and find 'Telford Bedroom' & there it is
.
You can do the same on de Hav campus map for the 360 of one of those bedrooms.
Not sure about any of the other halls though unfortunately.
The Uni should video the accommodation tours they do on open days and upload them to the web for us :L -

Is it that close? I never bothered looking at the campus because I thought I was sure about my course (ironic I know). I'll try walking on the open day, but I heard there's a bus as well if I'm not mistaken.
I liked the fact there was about 10 or 11 rooms in each hall in de hav to be honest and the sports village nearby is a plus, but I think I might be too lazy to bother travelling each day haha. -
Re: University of Hertfordshire applicants 2012It took me 10mins, but others have said it's 20..? Depends on your walking speed I guess..(Original post by rednaxula)

And yeah, there's a free shuttle bus between each campus
it just doesn't run after 3am, which people have complained about for nights out at the forum (but personally i'd be asleep if i wasn't home by then anyway
!)
-
Re: University of Hertfordshire applicants 2012Yeah, 10 seems a bit short but then again it does depend on the person. Sweet, well the bus would help haha.(Original post by Apixe)

I don't understand the complaints, a 15-20 minute walk is short compared to most nights out. I'd walk home now I could, but I have to do with expensive cabs, which sometimes you can't even book if you're out at closing time. -
Re: University of Hertfordshire applicants 2012I don't often go out, but if I do - same problem here.(Original post by rednaxula)

In the town where my college is - minimum fare is £2. In my valley, minimum fare is £6.. and obviously, on nights out that's doubled and I live a way away from anywhere so it's usually £20 minimum. -_- And buses stop at 7pm, so yeah... That sounds fine to me too :L - but each to their own I suppose. People who are used to 24hr bus services or whatever, have their right to complain I guess.
