Applied on the 22nd (November) for Bioarchaeology. Got the acknowledgment letter 2 days later, and nothing since. I got an offer from Bournemouth, and I'm now really wanting for more stuff to come through. I just want to know if they've rejectyed me, really!

    Anyone else for Archaeology?
I've got in the Archaeology Department doing Heritage

I probably will be, there's a small chance I may be going alone so I think it's my best chance to be adopted by someones parents :P
Out of the offers I've got so far, then yes But I havent visited any of them so just going to go to all the open days and see - how about you?
Haha I'm probably going alone also so dw.
I have offers from York, Warwick and Exeter so far, but have yet to visit any of them. I really like the look of York though, so it depends how Wednesday goes.

Are many people still waiting for offers?
All other choices have replied and im getting a bit pissed off waiting, already have my A levels so im kind of hoping theyre replying to most other people and waiting to see if they can make me an unconditional.

I'm in a similar situation to you, I'm waiting for History, and I have A*AB already (resat one paper to get the B up to an A and now awaiting on my results).

Be nice to think that they were waiting to decide whether to give me an Unconditional offer!

I'm actually a first year at Exeter atm (although not History) so if you want any insight into general student life just ask
Sooo jealous of you're Warwick offer, they're yet to get back to me I think it'd be a choioce between them or York if I got offers from both.

I got an offer (AAA) for English Literature a few weeks ago and I think I'll probably make it my firm when I hear back from my other applications. Does anyone know if there is a 'York firmers 2012' thread yet?

Last term I had 2 2 hour long seminars and 1 lecture per week, and this term I have 2 2 hour seminars and 3 lectures per week. We do 4 essay per term, 2 for each module. I feel like I've always had lots of support, yes. You can always email or meet up with your module tutors to talk over things with them, or you can just take advantage of any tutor's office hours. In my first term I was writing an essay on Beowulf, so I found a professor here who specialises in Old Englishy stuff and just went to have a chat with him about it, and he was very happy to talk to me even though I wasn't actually his student. You will also have a supervisor throughout the whole of your degree who you can talk to about more general problems, like anything affecting your work, whether you're finding it difficult to keep up with anything or whatever. The course is primarily assessed by essays. I have 1 exam this year, and I think I have 2 exams next year, and none in the third year.
I read on a thread somewhere during my (verging on obsessive :L) research into English at York, that you found the way A level English literature was structured, examined etc... challenging (at least I think/hope it was you, sorry if I have the wrong person :P). I'm in the same position now, I absolutely love English literature but at A level there is so much emphasis on jumping through hoops and meeting the assessment objectives that it doesn't seem to matter how good the actual writing is (at least on my exam board). I got an A at AS, and so far I've got A's in all my practice A2 essays, but they're not full marks or anything. I was just wondering if this is different at York, and whether you've found the essay writing more enjoyable and less constricting? I have this (probably irrational) fear that I'm going to fail horribly because I seem to get higher grades in my other A2's even though English is definitely the subject I'm passionate about. Thanks for any help
