Getting into uni with low AS grades
So I want to apply for History at Southampton, UEA, Essex and Reading which range from AAB for Southampton to ACC at Reading. However I'm really worried about not getting an offer for my higher choices (UEA and Southampton) as they are the two that I really want to go to.
My predicted grades are AAB but my AS grades were low (BCC - the Cs in the subjects that I want to get As in). However this was due to personal circumstances. As for ensuring that I will achieve the As, I have now got extra tutoring in all of my subjects.
Does it seem like I am achieving too high or do I have a realistic chance if I explain why my AS grades were low? Do unis go mainly on predicted grades or do they take AS's into consideration more?
Thanks -
Re: Getting into uni with low AS gradesE-mail universities and see what they say.(Original post by Keeky9494)

Re: Getting into uni with low AS grades
I'm in the exact same situation, so I have asked my chemistry teacher to mention why I got a C In chemistry rather than a high B (messed up one module horrifically, got a U). A good statement, good references & getting your predicted grades I think we should be fine

Re: Getting into uni with low AS gradesSad times I have a similar problem got B in unit one and High E in unit two and a D in Isa now I'm 4 ums of a C i really hope my teachers believe in me as much as I do and give me the B prediction. And the Uni's do consider me(Original post by callmenighthawk)

Re: Getting into uni with low AS grades
I messed up my AS Levels and attained PE (E) - G451 (U), G452 (A), ICT (AQA) (E) Practical World (C), Digital World (U), Applied Business Studies (E) 6916 (U), 6917 (C), 6918 (D), Psychology (U), Unit 1 (U), Unit 2 (U) - I hate the subject anyway :P. I attained these terrible grades, partly because of my health (which will be stated on my reference).
I'm applying for Sports Science at: Brunel (First Choice), Brighton, St Mary's (Twickenham), Hertfordshire and Wolverhampton.
I have no idea what my predicted grades will be until December, as I didn't apply to Oxbridge and our schools predicts us after assessments. I'm struggling to write my personal statement, and I've just finished off my first draft. -
Re: Getting into uni with low AS gradesYou should definitely re-take the Isa, as it's easy (or should have been, a U is not good!) and in march.(Original post by Akbar2k7)

I would also definitely consider retaking unit 2, although it is a difficult unit, I assume you're doing A2 at the moment, and A2 is a lot harder and in depth than unit 2. A2 also helps with unit 2 so it should be easier. -
Re: Getting into uni with low AS gradesI'm defo resitting both man and your right unit 2 looks far easier after unit 3, the problem isnt the content being hard its that I never learnt it consistently, now Im seen the error of my ways.(Original post by callmenighthawk)

Re: Getting into uni with low AS gradesYeah, the more chemistry we learn the easier the older stuff becomes and how I generally understand how chemistry works, that's what's excellent about chemistry(Original post by Akbar2k7)
