    Salam,,,

ive been thinking of starting to wear a hijab .. but i know that i wont start properly until uni
so i was just wondering how some othe sisters on here if they wear one and what it felt during early days ?
Waslam salam I started wearing it during year 11. And it was really nerve racking because it was the first day. I would come into school and I would look completely different. My maths teacher didn't even recognise me lol he made me get my i.d out lol he didn't believe it was me subhanAllah!! anyway when I first entered I was with a freind. I went to a predominently white school. Anyway I was with my freind and as i walked up the stairs everyone( well my classmates) did look but no one said anything everyone just said i looked different but not in a bad manner or a badway and people even asked me like why we wear it (good op for dawah!. Any the novelty will last for 2 days maxxxx if people have seen you without one and then it'll be like normal. after a couple of days I had actually forgotton that i even had it on lol it became so natural alhamdulillah. I would say go for it make sincere intention that your doing to please your lord and have trust in Allah(swt) that he will make it easy for you inshaAllah. Hope I have not rambled on..lol but I will say once you wear it you'll feel so different it's an obligation that your fufilling and the feels amazing. If you want to ask anything feel free inshaAllah. May Allah reward you for your efforts and make it easy for you sister Ameen.

If you really want to start wearing it then perhaps before u start uni will be a good time. I think it's much harder if you've already started and then take a liking to it

Well make sure you keep it on and be steadfast, I've seen loads of girls take it off and forget about it.

The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) said: "The dua of a Muslim for his brother (in Islam) in his absence is readily accepted. An angel is appointed to his side. Whenever he makes a beneficial dua for his brother the appointed angel says, 'Aameen. And may you also be blessed with the same.'

Salaam MashAllah that's a great step. I've been wearing a headscarf for a couple of years now but just recently started wearing a proper hijab. I felt a little self conscious at first but slowly got used to it and now love wearing a hijab. Subhanallah the joy you have in wearing a hijab is like no other, It's like a sense of protection. Alot of girls have complimented me aswell, even non muslims which really boosts your confidence.
And remember Allah S.W.T purifies your heart and mind through hijab
