Re: The I-SOC (Islamic Society) (IV)
You are walking & you see a lion in front of you, you run to get away from it.. until you see a cliff. You see a rope so you climb down it but at the bottom you see a crocodile. Then you see black & white mice nibbling on the rope. You see no escape & feel scared. Then drops of honey begin to drip in to your mouth from a honeycomb above. Due to the sweetness of the honey u forget about the danger around you. This is how we live our lives. The lion is malik-ul-maut (angel of death) who will eventually catch up to us. The crocodile is our grave that we forget about which is where we will end up. The black & white mice are the days & nights that pass by every day & the honey is the world. We are so engrossed in the love of this world that we fail to remember that everyday we are closer to death. Subhan’allah.

Re: The I-SOC (Islamic Society) (IV)
Assalamu Alaikum So i had this idea...
At jummah in my college quite a few people turn up but its only really a small percentage of the muslims . I was thinking of making jummah invitiation cards .... Just a small card saying your invited to jummah with timings. Does anybody have nay suggestions on what i should write on it . ' you are cordially invited to jummah ' is a bit over the top maybe something like 'this is a special invitation to jummah' Should i put a quote on it I was thinking 'come to prayer come to success' i wanted to do something simple , just a simple black and white card with a pretty border .
Any ideas would be tons of help ... -

Maybe write time and then a Quranic Ayat 'Surely salaah is ordained on the believers at fixed times' or a Hadeeth on praying Salaah. -
Re: The I-SOC (Islamic Society) (IV)I wanted something that would make people think. Some of the muslims here are really far from the religion I don't want to make it feel as if we're telling them off for not praying , if you see what i meen. Is it okay to put quranic verses in english because people might throw it in the bin ( you never know what kind of response you'll get )(Original post by muslimboi)

Re: The I-SOC (Islamic Society) (IV)
Found the following
' The best day the sun has ever risen is a friday '
or
"Believers, when you are called to prayer on the Day of the Congregation (Friday), hasten to the Remembrance of Allah and put your trading to oneside. That is the best for you, if you but knew."
or
"There is such an hour on Friday that if any Muslim makes dua in it, his dua will definitely be accepted." (Bukhari, Muslim) -
Re: The I-SOC (Islamic Society) (IV)The invitation cards seem unnecessary and the whole concept of inviting people to Jum'ah seems wrong. Your intentions though put a lot of people to shame including myself..(Original post by GabGirl)

Have you considered flyers as a good way to get the message across and raise awareness, maybe a good proportion of students don't even know there is a prayer room. -

Umm why do you say that brother. I didn't see anything in it which seemed wrong. I understand what your saying about flyers being more appropriate. Do you mean the ones you post up on the wall or the ones you hand out ? I thought it would be good to hand out them out because there seems to be some sort of false stereotype that everyone in the prayer room is very judgmental . Ive heard this from many lovely sisters who don't wear hijaab but come to prayer room regularly now, who say they didn't realize that the 'prayer room people' were normal people. I think its more so because we're a few months in and people have settled into their friendship groups and perhaps feel a bit odd coming to the prayer room in the middle of the year when they hadn't before . I thought the invitation idea would make it seem more welcoming ...
By invitation i just meant an A6 or smaller card saying about jummah nothing elaborate ... -

Re: The I-SOC (Islamic Society) (IV)Yeah rather not put Quranic Ayat or Hadeeth on, if there's chance of disrespect.(Original post by GabGirl)

Think a poster stuck at 2 places on campus would be ideal with just time and the room where salaah takes place. And to make a little announcement every few weeks at Jummah for people to pass on message of invitation for Jummah. -
Re: The I-SOC (Islamic Society) (IV)
On the authority of Abdullah ibn Umar (May Allah be pleased with them both), he relates that the Prophet (Peace be upon him) once held my shoulders and said:
“Live in this world as (if you are) a wayfarer or a stranger.” And Abdullah ibn Umar (May Allah be pleased with them both) used to say: “If you live till night, then do not wait for the next day (i.e. do not have hopes that you will live to the next day), and if you wake up in the morning do not have hope that you will live till the night. And take (advantage) from your health before your sickness and take advantage of your life before your death (i.e. do every possible obedience in your life before death comes to you for then no deeds can be performed.)” [Bukhari and Tirmidhi] -
Re: The I-SOC (Islamic Society) (IV)
“There are a lot of ways to get lost. Just because something is ‘halal’, doesn’t mean you can’t lose yourself in it. There’s nothing ‘haram’ about swimming in the ocean. But if the ocean is all you see, and you get so deep into it that you lose sight of shore… you drown.”
