Re: The I-SOC (Islamic Society) (IV)Most likely it wasn't people on this I-Soc, the people we normally debate with come on here to neg us!(Original post by HaHaLOL)
Assalaamu alaykum,
Very interesting lecture, especially important in the UK when we have 'persistent twighlight' in the summer, (when we never really have 'true' night due to the UK being so far north)
This leads to confusion over when to pray Isha, because during the summer in the UK the twighlight never fully dissappears.
This also causes confusion as to when Fajr time starts.
This in turn causes confusion as to what time we should start our fast.
Been looking for a simple explanation, and mashaAllah this ustaadh explains it very well:
Allah s.w.t knows best.
WOWW if there is a problem with what I posted then please let me know!!
If it was anyone on here, I hope they tell you why they think the videos wrong.
Share the knowledge!

Re: The I-SOC (Islamic Society) (IV)
Allamah Isfaraini (Rahimahullah), the teacher of Imam Ghazali (Rahimahullah) supplicated for thirty years to Allah to make him sinless. He wanted to be completely free from all types of sin. This was a special status he sought. Only the one who does not want to displease Allah can make such a dua. One day he thought that although he had been supplicating for thirty years, Allah had not accepted his dua despite being Karim (generous in giving).
A voice emanated from the sky saying, "O Isfaraini, you want to become sinless when I have made two paths for becoming a wali. One is the path of piety and the other the path of repentance. Have you not recited the verse in the Qur’an wherein Allah says that He loves those who repent. When there are two windows, why are you specifying one? If due to human weakness, you commit a sin, come in close proximity to Me by repenting. Do not commit sins intentionally. When there is excessive mud, even an elephant can slip. Therefore, if you commit a sin, repent and become My beloved. Why do you only want to come via the route of piety when I have opened the door of repentance as well? When I have opened two doors, why are you appointing only one for yourself? Become My beloved via the path of repentance. Supplicate for protection from sin, not for becoming sinless." -

Walakum Asalam
When you see a stop sign, you actually properly stop with the brake lever on. Goodness I even forgot its name- the grey thing in the middle. I failed because I didn't!
On a dual carriageway remain on the left hand side, I failed because I went on the right causing a lot of others cars to overtake me.
Remember just to look out, I nearly hit a bus, but was saved thanks to the test guy moving the steering wheel to the left. Oh yeah I failed that driving test too.Last edited by Florrick; 16-06-2012 at 20:23. -

Corrected (yeh I'm being pedantic... but it's importantOn a dual carriageway remain on the left hand side, I failed because I went on the right causing a lot of others cars toovertakeundertake me.

Case of nerves? You passed now?Remember just to look out, I nearly hit a bus, but was saved thanks to the test guy moving the steering wheel to the left. Oh yeah I failed that driving test too.
The tip I can give fruitfan is to look at your mirrors constantly! I was useless at looking at the mirrors. But my first examiner was really harsh on them (he gave me so many minors - and a serious - for mirror faults). The second examiner gave me none (I had also taken over a year out between the two tests so certainly wouldn't have improved as such). My driving instructor told me that the my first examiner was a Biker... hence he was keen on your mirror checks (despite my belief that many accidents with Bikers occur usually because they speed
)
Also just keep your eyes on road signs
Inshallah it'll be okay. -

Thanks for correcting me.
Only joking.
I passed last year (finally!) and could have failed the last driving test because I forgot to put the handbrake on while we stopped at top of a hill, so we were rolling back for a second.
I'd like to add don't spend too much time looking at the mirrors. You might end up getting distracted. -
Re: The I-SOC (Islamic Society) (IV)Supposed to look at them every 5 seconds... don't think there is any more distraction possible(Original post by Florrick)

Mashallah bro!
I passed last year too
Although should have been a lot earlier if I didn't bother to take nearly two years gap between my first and second tests! Swear I did like 5 lessons of just driving wherever I wanted to go because my instructor was so comfortable with my driving and I couldn't get an early test slot
Lucky escape
Think we all had one of those lucky moments on the tests we pass

Re: The I-SOC (Islamic Society) (IV)I failed the first time because nerves and ended up doing stupid mistakes. Just try to think positive and say to yourself you can do it! And just pretend the driving examiner isn't there so it's like a normal driving lesson(Original post by fruitfan)
