Re: The I-SOC (Islamic Society) (IV)
Finished Surah Yusuf today in Taraweeh prayer. SubhanAllah we can learn quite a bit from this surah. Allah talks about the nafs of human beings specifically Yusuf(as). The actual ayah in arabic contains the letter ma as in meem and alif. In the quranic arabic language the word ma is used to represent something with no intelligence i.e. non human beings. So our nafs are compared to animalistic tendencies. The importance behind this is that Allah points out that our nafs can lead us to become animalistic if we do not control them. I cannot remember the specific ayahs concerned but iA will post them.

I love learning about the Quran in depth like this, but once you start reading/listening to talks on one bit you understand how depth it really is. SubhanAllah the meaning within the wording of even one ayah is so great!

Re: The I-SOC (Islamic Society) (IV)
“O people, ask Allaah for well-being, for there is nothing better than He gives to anyone than well-being. Always be truthful, for truthfulness is the companion of piety, and both of them are in Paradise. And beware of lying, for it is indeed the companion of wickedness, and both of them are in the hellfire. Do not break off ties of family relationship; do not plot against one another; do not despise one another; do not be jealous of one another, but instead be a slave of Allaah, brother unto one another.”
- Abu Bakr As-Siddeeq (radiallahu anhu) -
Re: The I-SOC (Islamic Society) (IV)
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said: ”Take advantage of five matters before five other matters: your youth before you become old; your health, before you fall sick; your wealth, before you become poor; your free time before you become preoccupied, and your life, before your death.”
(Narrated by Ibn Abbas in the Mustadrak of Hakim & Musnad Imam Ahmad. Sahih) -

JazakAllah for that gem. I love studying the linguistics of the Qur'an and the subtle wisdom behind the usage of particular words. It's awesome

It has quite a few interesting videos about the linguistics of the Qur'an, which I found useful.

Re: Ramadan 2012i don't know where you are going with this and i disagree but i am not going to get into an argument(Original post by FSP)
Because normally people who say intercession does not happen oppose it on the grounds that it undermines the oness of god, which it clearly doesnt.

Re: The I-SOC (Islamic Society) (IV)
Shaqîq ibn Ibrâhîm reports:
It was once said to ‘Abdullah ibn Al-Mubârak, “After you have prayed with us you don’t sit with us?”
He replied, “I go and sit with the Sahâbah and the Tâbi’în.”
We said, “And how can you sit with the Sahâbah and Tâbi’în (when they have all passed away)?”
He replied, “I go and read the knowledge I have collected, I find their narrations and deeds. What would I do with you? ”

Re: The I-SOC (Islamic Society) (IV)
Â'ishah (radiAllâh 'anhâ) narrated:
“Once, when I saw the Prophet in a good mood, I said to him: “O Messenger of Allâh! Supplicate to Allâh for me!”
So, he صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
“O Allâh! Forgive ‘Â'ishah her past and future sins, what she has hidden, as well as what she has made apparent.”
So, I began smiling, to the point that my head fell into my lap out of joy.
The Messenger of Allâh said to me: “Does my supplication make you happy?”
I replied: “And how can your supplication not make me happy?”
He صلى الله عليه وسلم then said: “By Allâh, it is the supplication that I make for my Ummah in every prayer.”
[Reported in 'Sahih Mawarid adh-Dhaman' (1875), and it is in 'as-Silsilah as-Sahihah' (2254)] -

It will keep hurting until you remove that person from the place in your heart that only God should be. If you don't, that person will ironically become the tool of this painful extraction process, until you learn that there are places in the human heart made only by—and for—God.

Salaam, everyone
One of my friend's uncles has cancer and only has a few days left. I please ask that you pray for him and that Allah forgives him and pardons his sins.
Does anyone know any dua's for someone in that situation.
May Allaah ease his pain and make this disease an expiation for his sins. May Allaah make his end an easy one.
JazaakAllaahu khayraa. That's really beautiful.(Original post by Iqbal007)

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
It is reported that Hafsah – Allâh be pleased with her – once said to her father (‘Umar -radiAllahuanho, during his Caliphate):
Allâh has increased the provisions; if only you would eat better food than the food you eat now and wear softer clothes then those you wear now?!
He said, “I will argue [against] you with your own self: Was not the condition of Allâh’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم such-and-such [when you were his wife]!?”
He kept reminding her until she cried.
He continued, “I have told you, by Allâh, I will share in their hard living (in this world, referring to The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and Abû Bakr -radiAllahuanho) so that I may partake in their good life (in Paradise).”

Re: The I-SOC (Islamic Society) (IV)
What makes you cry, O Abu Muhammad?
‘Abd Al-Rahmân b. ‘Awf (رَّضِىَ ٱللَّهُ عَنۡهُ) was once brought some food, and he had been fasting.
He said: Mus‘ab b. ‘Umayr (رَّضِىَ ٱللَّهُ عَنۡهُ) was killed, and he was better than me and he was buried with a cloak as a shroud: if his head was covered with it his legs would be uncovered and if his legs were covered with it his head would be uncovered.
And Hamzah (رَّضِىَ ٱللَّهُ عَنۡهُ) was killed and he was better than me.
Then, after that time, we were given what we were given of worldly wealth, and we fear that [the reward of] our good deeds has been quickened for us [in this life].
He then began to cry so much that he left his food.

I've heard that recitation of Surah Al-Rehman can be of some help. Doubtless the Qur'an contains shifa, but when it's our time, it's our time.
I will pray to Allah SWT to ease his pain, and if his end is written, to make it a peaceful one, insha Alalh.
