    Hi Sarahp,

    Thank you for your question.

The Timetable for the Occupational Therapy Course is broken down as follows and in a typical week, you will have 24 Contact Hours of study:

Personal Tutorial/ Small Group Teaching: 7 Hours
Medium Group Teaching: 12 hours of Seminars and Workshops each week
Large Group Teaching: 5 Hours of Lectures each week
Personal Study: 10-14 Hours each week of studying in small groups or on your own

We would not have a complete timetable for our Sept 2012 intake until closer to the start date but if you would like me to send you an example of the first year timetable for the Sept 2011 intake then please email me on genenq.hls@coventry.ac.uk and I will happily forward you one.

We process applications as they come in, so as long as applications have been received through UCAS by the January 15th deadline - then all applications will be given equal considerations.

    Does this answer your question?

    Kind Regards
    Louise

Hi, Im planning to apply for mental health nursing for 2012 intake
    I got a few questions;
    1) Do the nursing students have a separate accommodation to the other students?
    2) Is there a chance for a year abroad within the school term?
    3) How long is the holidays
    4) how many mature students is there on the course?

    Thank you very much

    Hi Sarah,

Thank you for your question. If you do the ODP course is will prepare you to become an independent practitioner within the operating department environment ensuring every operation is as safe and effective as possible. You will develop skills required for anaesthetic, surgical and post-anaesthetic care roles and develop an understanding of how these skills are adapted to various specialist situations.

If you would like to find out more indepth information about this course you can follow this link www.coventry.ac.uk to our website.

Yes this is an extremly popular course at Coventry. If you would like to apply for this course you can apply through UCAS and you can contact them at www.UCAS.com.

I hope this information has been helpful to you and thank you.

    Hi,

Thank you for your questions. We do not have separate accommodation as such but when you are placed in your accommodation we will try to put the Nursing students together such as on the same floors due to shift patterns etc.
This course is a 3year full time course based in Coventry University and local hospitals. There are 12 weeks holiday through the year and this course does have a good number of mature students studying at Coventry.

I hope this information will be helpful to you and thank you again for your questions.

    Hi Sarah,

Glad you found the information useful. This course is divided into 8 theoretical and 3 practical modules structured around:
    [*]Theory[*]Practice[*]Role of the ODP

We would tend not to recommend books until you start the course but one that covers a lot is one called Operating Theatre Techniques, the Author of this is a gentleman called Raymond Brigden and the Publisher is Churchill Livingston, you should be able to find this on Amazon for a resonable price if you feel you would like to purchase one.

In the 1st year of the course you will have 16 weeks in a practical setting and in the 2nd year you will have 24 weeks, they will be in one hospital.

    Thanks

    Natasha

    Hi Jess,

If you would like to qualify as a Dietetian then the BSc Dietetics course would be the course you would need to do and yes you will need to apply through UCAS, you can contact UCAS at www.UCAS.com

You will still need to complete the full 4 years of the course even though you have completed your degree in Nutrition.

I hope this information will be helpful to you and thanks for your question.

Hey Louise/Natasha I'm applying for Physiotherapy.
However, I can't get my predicted grades up to BBB even though I know I can ger that, It is at BBC atm, do you think I have a reasonable chance because I've had lots of work experience. My GCSEs are quite good but I had a tough year with personal issues. Also, when it says 2 life -sciences, I have one. Also, can you apply to do physio at either leister or cov, because I don't mind but I think theres less places at leister

    Thanks

    Hi VSparrow,

I'm sure there are plenty of current Nursing students on TSR so perhaps one of them will reply to this thread. I don't personally know any of the current nursing students so I'm afraid I can't put you in touch directly (although perhaps Louise from the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences could?)

What I can tell you from my own (sort of) personal experience is how much my partner loved her Adult Nursing course, which she graduated from a couple of years ago. She had a successful placement at the stroke ward at Warwick Hospital during her third year and as soon as the placement finished she was offered a job there as a staff nurse. She still works there now and she loves every aspect of the job, so I suppose that is somewhat of a success story of a Coventry University nursing graduate.

Also, from what I can gather, most of her friends from her course also had similar success when it came to finding a good position very quickly after graduating.

I'm sorry that I couldn't be more specific on this occasion.

    All the best,
    Joe

Hello. This is regarding to a subjects as a whole. If an offer is BBB what predicted grades are needed to get an unconditional offer.

    Thanks

    Hi there,

We don't give unconditional offers. If an applicant already has the grades necessary to get onto a course then we will make an offer that is conditional upon the applicant proving that the qualifications and grades that they've listed on their UCAS application form are correct. They can prove this simply by sending in photocopies of their certificates. Once this condition has been met, the offer is amended from conditional to unconditional.

    All the best,
    Joe
