    Healthy Eating Chat Thread
Okay I've realised over the past few days that I've put a LOT of weight on at uni over the last year and a half, and my BMI is something like 27.5. oops

I thought this could be a motivational thread for anyone else at uni who is struggling to eat healthy and wants to chat and maybe post every day how the days gone food/exercise wise

Starting tomorrow I'm going to really start watching what I'm eating - and I've decided to cut out snacks altogether unless it's fruit. That's my biggest problem: being at uni all day and just buying stuff to eat if I get bored/fed up.

So yeah I hope people will post and I am definitely looking forward to eating healthier and hopefully slowly getting rid of this weight that I've put on because right now I'm not feeling particularly healthy or active.

PS: not sure if a thread like this already exists - but if it does please direct me to it
PPS: I think this will help me really change my eating habits if I have somewhere to post and write down what I'm eating/how the day has gone.

Good to hear that you're trying to do something about your weight before it gets completely out of control, a year and a half's worth of unhealthy habits may be hard to break but it's definitely worth doing :yep:

If you like, you could also start talking to the people in this thread. A lot of people there have been losing weight for quite a while, and are doing amazingly.

I suppose this would be a good thread for people to talk about their food vices, the things they can't help themselves around. Maybe swap ideas for healthy alternatives and substitutes.

Having your own thread and trying to start your own little group of healthy eaters sounds like a good idea.

    Good luck!

Thank you for the link! I hadn't realised that thread was about.

Yeah I haven't really worried about my weight over the last year at uni (which is probably why it's gone this far) but it's just snacking and eating on the go that's really got me pretty unhealthy. The annoying thing is - when I try I do eat really healthily - it's just realising that I need to and actually sticking to it.

Hopefully this would help people if they are feeling particularly unhealthy and need a bit of support. The Healthy New You thread looks great too

    No problem

I've had problems with my weight too over the years, so I feel a little odd giving advice about it actually. My problems have been that when I'm stressed out I've gotten into the habit of either eating everything in the house or going into starvation mode, neither of those being advisable :ashamed2: When everything else feels a little out of control, I tend to alleviate my panic by controlling my diet.

My BMI was over 30 at its worst, but is around 21 at the moment. I'm going to try and maintain my current weight in a healthy manner. Maybe I'll stick around in this thread too.

I know what you mean - when I feel a bit stressed out or upset I think okay I'll either not eat anything or go the whole hog and eat complete rubbish! I just don't think about it and it's so easy to eat unhealthily if I have a few essays due in or tons of reading to do.

Ah that's great! you must feel pretty good having a healthy BMI now.

I just added to the other thread too, there obviously seems to be a lot more people there!

Just a heads up- there was a similar thread like this a while back, and although I think it was harmless, I think it got shut down because it might have been a trigger for people with eating disorders.

I think it's definitely a good idea to keep track on what you're eating though. Sometimes when you pick at stuff all day, you think you haven't eaten much but when you see it written down, you suddenley realise where all your extra calories are coming from.

If you're a muncher, take lots of healthy snacks with you like dried fruit, normal fruit that's already washed/chopped/prepared (either by you or the supermarket!), nuts, and maybe one 'treat' like a small chocolate biscuit. And only take enough money with you for what you need, like your bus ticket. That way when you would normally buy rubbish to much on, you can have one of your healthy snacks so won't be hungry, and you won't be able to buy stuff either.
