UWE Applicants 2012
Welcome to the University of the West of England forum: where prospective and current students can discuss anything about UWE.

Re: UWE Applicants 2012I'm what they class as a "mature student" so I'm not applying through the conventional route. I'm studying what's called an Access course, so my conditions might not be of any help to you I'm afraid! (Although if they are PM me)(Original post by DannyR2811)
What was the offer?
Are you applying for Computer Science? -
Re: UWE Applicants 2012Hi,(Original post by DJukic)
Heyy guys,
really not sure about the ucas tarriff system for UWE really wanna come here ndd study English BA...320 points can this be made out of 3 A levels and an AS or solely out of 3 A levels????!?!
My understanding of UWE is that they accept ANYTHING to make up the UCAS points (unless your course is specific). I am doing computer science and they took everything, AS, A2, IFS, and even basic skills which I only really put on my form "for a laugh" (level 2) - but it was actually the extra 20 points these gave me that took me from an otherwise 310 to a 330 and in ! My sister went to the recent open day and was told exactly the same thing for Drama/English or Drama single....they dont even interview for that course where ALL other places she has visited DO - they said if you get the 320 from WHATEVER 9so long as its on UCAS tariff) then you are IN - so i guess this must be some sort of UWE policy. Check with your subject tutors to be sure I guess -

Seriously? Okay, this has made me feel so much better as I was worried about my points. I've already got 160 from Alevels and hopefully be getting 360 from my BTEC, so I'll have like 520 UCAS points. Crazy.... -
Re: UWE Applicants 2012My sister went here, said it was a mixture of both, its big and depends what campus your on xx(Original post by chokoishii)

Re: UWE Applicants 2012
Sent my ucas off on friday, still waiting for the welcome letter in the post :P
I'm also applying to study Law at UWE.
Course looks great, as does the town.
Only concerns is the expensive accommodation (£135/ week in halls)
and that the Fenchay campus is 4/5 miles away from the city.. = expensive transport
Anyone else having these concerns? -
Re: UWE Applicants 2012The more contact hours you'll have at university (with law I'm assuming you'll have quite a few) the more beneficial that it will be for you to fork out for university accommodation rather than to live in a cheaper place and spend money on commute (bus or otherwise).(Original post by Alex3r3)

You'll probably have to weigh up your own pros and cons but this was just a suggestion.
