3rd year History/Politics student soon to do GLD, any chance as a barrister?

I'm a third-year History and Politics student at the University of York. My degree will be winding up soon and I'm currently looking at a first based on all my results so far. I'm hoping to do the GLD after I graduate and after that my big dream is to take the BPTC. I'm starting to wonder, however, if there's any point in doing taking this route- I've heard that non-Oxbridge graduates most often don't pass the bar, and I have no formal experience in law thus far- a wide range of work experiences and internships elsewhere, but nothing in that particular field. Do I have any hope at all?
