Re: Leeds met accommodation...help!
I went to view Opal 1&2 and with all honesty it was amazing! I've been to a fair few universities and visited the accommodation, but nothing quite compares! The rooms weren't exactly huge but they were spacious for what they were; very nice en suite wetroom, beds are decent*, good desk space, kitchen and living room was perfect for student life, and the on-site gym and swimming pool facilities were out of this world. When I was sitting in the 'talk' about the accommodation, the speaker said that Opal 1&2 is seen as the best in terms of living up the student life, so expect there to be a bit of noise. However, the security is really good and everyone seemed very friendly and seemed to enjoy living there.
*The speaker also said that beds can even be tailored for you! As in, if you're quite a tall person and your feet are going to dangle off the end, she will even get a bigger bed ordered for you at no extra cost! Amazing service in my opinion. -
Re: Leeds met accommodation...help!
In my opinion I think they are all terrible and stupidly over priced for what they are.
In my 1st year I went to IQ Leeds and they was good!
There not only cheaper than all the Leeds Met ones but you get a double bed and your own en-suite and plenty of room to mov about unlike opal for instance.
The location is pretty good too I used to be able to walk into leeds to the rose bowl in about 15 mins.
Just go with your own decision no not the hype of others -

Re: Leeds met accommodation...help!what do you think of the plaza(Original post by Rakas21)
It does look good although i may go Opal 3 next year (In plaza now - fresher).
-
Re: Leeds met accommodation...help!i love the sound of the plaza now, i really want a big bed and a room big enough to fit everything in. but because that accommodation is a bit more expensive is it full of 'snobby'people who live there? and is it easy to make friends?(Original post by Rakas21)
I like it.
Decent size room, ensuite, pool tables in common room.
Main downside is the cost and not getting a TV in the dining area, due to this i am leaning toward Car Mills next year. -
Re: Leeds met accommodation...help!
No lol. My parents live off benefits so i get the full wack for loans and grants, it's just like any other accommodation with a mixture.
As easy/hard as anywhere else, you put yourself out there and you will make friends. You live as a hermit and you will not.
At the moment i am leaning towards Car mills, The Eldon or IQ next year as they are between £20 and £35 cheaper.
Will probably be back in the city centre the year after though as the location of the Plaza/Opal 3/Broadcasting Place/Leeds Central Village is brilliant and i am doing a sandwich year. -
Re: Leeds met accommodation...help!i don't think it is y'know, i went for a tour and everybody seemed really nice :3 also i guess cos the people getting the most for maintanence grant etc aren't from well off families there'd be a good mix of people getting money off their parents/getting money from the government hahaa, i think i'm definately staying there now the location is amazing ^.^(Original post by chloem12)

Re: Leeds met accommodation...help!yeah I've put down for Opal, but I'm going to Headingley Campus, I assume every morning, hopefully not, I'm not really sure about the schedule but i'll be making that trip(Original post by Heidiann)
I really like the look of Opal but i will be on the Headingly campus, is there anyone else who will be traveling between the two?? -
Re: Leeds met accommodation...help!
I've also paid a deposit for Opal 1&2.. Does anyway know when we find out more info? Like rooms or even a payment breakdown??
I was stuck between Opal 1&2, Opal 3 or The Plaza.. Went for Opal 1&2 because my friend (studying at leeds in 2nd year) said Opal is amazing!! and the place to be.
Opal 3 looked good, good location, nice rooms. The same with the plaza, especially the 3/4 bed! that was a very attractive feature! However I read on here that someone has posted that the staff weren't helpful and that the room keys were useless? not sure if thats true, suppose it could be different for anyone.. anyway yeh chose opal 1&2

Re: Leeds met accommodation...help!
I can confirm that Opal 1/2, Liberty Park, Concept Place and The Triangle are effectively party central.
I can also say living in the Plaza that i do not have a single compliant. Were it not for a £35 per week price difference between Carr Mills and The Plaza, i would stay here again. The location of The Plaza can also not be beat.
