    e você?

Wow cool! Eles são brasileiras? Sua familia? Or do they just live there?

Quero ir tambem!! Quero ir para o carnaval em Salvador! Eu gosto da musica tambem, e quero experimentar um novo país.

Yay, glad the thread has got moving again! I think I'm a bit behind the other 'beginners' in the thread as I've literally JUST started learning so my vocab is essentially non-existent but glad to have somewhere to help me learn!

Has anyone found any good online resources? I'm really keen on ensuring my ability to speak and understand is solid as I learnt french for many years and got to the point where I could read french pretty well, write it ok, but barely understand it spoken at any decent speed, so hoping to avoid that happening again!
www.livemocha.com is AMAZING! You can choose your level, add written and spoken entries and get native speakers to give you feedback You can also help others with their English. And it's FREE!!!

    Re: The Portuguese Learners Society!
Just came across some useful Brazilian phrases

Que saudade!- when you really really miss something/someone

    Fala sério - You're kidding/joking

. . . pra caramba!-most often used at the end of a sentence to exaggerate something. Use this phrase instead of putting muito or bem in front of these same words.

Engraçado -funny. Engraçado pra caramba- hilarious.

Lindo maravilhoso- Beautiful, marvelous! e.g Hoje esteve um dia lindo maravihoso!

É mesmo?- Really? It's usually used to react to some interesting new fact.

Um beijo! or Um abraço-a kiss/a hug. Can be used at the end of an email/message etc

Imagina - used after being thanked. Similar to 'no problem'

Pois não?- Can I help you?

    Com certeza!- Of course/definitely

    Fique tranquilo- don't worry
