Re: Inner London Is A HellholeGracias Senior(Original post by DeanFoley)
Congratulations, you have discovered that poor people live in the inner cities! Other shocking developments tonight; new research suggests bears may actually defecate in woods, and the Pope has publically declared his Catholic faith.
The state of inner London is much the same as what you'll find in the bowels of any other metropolis. If multiculturalism is such a demonic presence, why has Canada created cities like Vancouver, thoroughly multicultural with a minority-majority population, that also happens to be among the best places to live in the world? Perhaps the bigot Britain attitude is fostering this "third world hellhole" more than anything.
I suggest you abandon your obvious superiority complex

On the above, I always find this view interesting. I'm not overly PC and desperate to condemn people, but do you genuinely believe that immigrants ahve de-civilised places? Loads of them, like Asians, are more proper than the existing culture. I mean, as if there wasn't loads of horrible little scrotes, and violence, when we were virtually all white. Read about victorian London, the scuttler gangs, Manchester etc. Britain has always had an underclass, disenfranchised people, and a brutal violent edge. I'm not sure whether you can say it would lose a lot of that if it was all white people, nice fantasy thought that is. -
Re: Inner London Is A HellholeJust out of interest, what type of property do you live in in that sort of area?(Original post by alleycat393)
I live in Elephant and Castle but just at the roundabout.
Yes you do have people wandering around who look intimidating and scary so I tend not to go wandering by myself after dark and if I do I stick to well lit areas.
It's a convenient area to live in-lots of shops and good transport links.
My flat is lovely though and while it is expensive I think it's well worth it. -
Re: Inner London Is A Hellhole...It's one of the world's biggest cities, of course it's going to be busy during rush hour.(Original post by TTW)
I knew the inner city London was bad but I didn't know it was this bad. What a ********. I'm from Norfolk and had to stay at my cousin's flat for a week in the Elephant Castle area. What a dump. That's being kind. I guess it's a surprise because I only ever visited the outer boroughs, but I can't believe London has been allowed to deteriorate like this.
Getting the bus home in rush hour was like being in a zoo. It's always busy during that time in any area, but I really was sitting with uncivilised animals this time. I'm so grateful my parents moved out of London when I was baby. I don't know how people can live there and not commit suicide.
And Elephant&Castle is probably not the best place to go if you want a general picture of what inner London is truly like. -
Re: Inner London Is A HellholeSo he's racist because he doesn't like inner city London?(Original post by Dansk)
LMAOOOOO!
Move to Sheffield or 'summat'. Very white city, bunch of racists like yourself and defo not over crowded! HAHA. Have "fun". Hopefully you'll find loads to do.

Re: Inner London Is A HellholeTrust me, the majority of people that live in the Elephant and Castle don't have the luxury of being able to up sticks and choose where they live.(Original post by Organ)
Yeah, I'm not a London fan myself.
Not sure why people don't live somewhere like Bristol or Cardiff where you can get a house for the price of a shoebox in London. -
Re: Inner London Is A HellholeIt's a block of flats that used to be council property. There's a concierge. The building is grotty and the areas surrounding it too but the flat is really nice. The common areas in the building are kept clean so I'm not too bothered.(Original post by Chillaxer)
Just out of interest, what type of property do you live in in that sort of area?
It's a two level maisonette with an open plan kitchen, living room and balcony on the lower level and the bedrooms, bathroom and toilet on the upper level. I have a view of all of central London from my bedroom and from the living room. -
Re: Inner London Is A HellholeI have been to north London. It isn't too different from various areas of west London, east London or south London. There is nothing particularly unique about it.(Original post by Chillaxer)
Going there, going out and just seeing them. Everything goes on there. -
Re: Inner London Is A HellholeI'm sorry - but what has Al-PC brigade got to do with it? Inner London has alot of the most expensive real estate in the world. Not just Europe, but the WORLD. This suggests people are more than prepared to pay a huge premium to live there. Even the most apparently 'dangerous' parts have land values hugely in excess of many so-called 'safer' regions of the UK.(Original post by CurlyCarmen)
I've lived in London my whole life, am mixed-race, classed as working class and I *shock horror* agree with you! The PC brigade won't like it but *shrugs* oh well. -
Re: Inner London Is A HellholeWell, I just meant that I love Highgate, I find it really romantic, Highgate hill type of area. West London just seems to be exessively posher, and south London rough. East is more grotty, but it has character. What do you think of the whole L'pool street, and further out east area, Limehouse poplar, canning town, docklands etc?(Original post by effofex)

Re: Inner London Is A HellholeI live 10 minutes walk from Liverpool Street. I really like it - you've got the modernity of the City on one side, Spitalfields market which is always buzzing, and the more colourful parts towards Brick Lane and up to Shoreditch.(Original post by Chillaxer)

Don't really know the parts further east than that, but there are some nice little neighbourhoods all over. -
Re: Inner London Is A HellholeThey're fairly reasonable areas to live - in close proximity to the City which is good for work and there are amenities open late into the early hours of the morning which is useful as well.(Original post by Chillaxer)

Re: Inner London Is A HellholeI really like docklands, think it's mysterious. I gather Hackney is bloody awful but I went round Dalston and London fields ect and really liked it. I loved Limehouse too, that was like I had found something like the east-end I romanticise. East and North I have preferred out of areas I've been, East especially.(Original post by Jez RR)

Re: Inner London Is A Hellhole
This thread has taught me alot.
The OP is of another species, because only non- westerners are animals.
London is the only major city in the world that has pockets of ****holes. Every other metropolis is Utopia.
Living in Norfolk, you are a good judge of how much London has deteriorated.
Jimmy Carr is right about Norfolk -

Re: Inner London Is A HellholeSo when you said which I quote "but I really was sitting with uncivilised animals this time......" who was you referring to then? Your Family?(Original post by Teknik)
I did not describe immigrants as animals so do not dare put words in my mouth and blatantly lie by saying I said something, which I certainly did not say.
