I intend to buy a PS3 to play this game. It'll be my first console since both of my XBox 360 consoles stopped working. I'm never buying a Microsoft console again.

As far as the release date goes I don't really care. There are other things coming out in early 2013 that'll also be very enjoyable: C&C Generals 2, Sim City.

Same, going to buy a PS3 just to play the game. Hoping they do a PS3 GTA Edition, but unlike you I want the game now !

If they do, it seems a strange date.
You would of thought they'd want it the other side of christmas, although I guess they could cash in on all the post-christmas shoppers spending their christmas money!

28th December is the very last working day of the year (Monday 31st is a Bank holiday), so I wouldn't be surprised if it's just a placeholder.

I feel like they should have waited a bit longer and made GTA V a launch title for the next generation of consoles. I don't see the point in making such a huge game at the end of the 360/PS3 life cycle. The next consoles will be announced around the same time this gets released, which would completely steal GTA's thunder.

There are roughly 130 million Xbox 360 and PS3 owners in the world right now, whereas a new console would be lucky to shift a few million in the first month. Making it a launch title next gen would massively up costs for the opportunity to sell to a tiny fraction of the people they could have.

I wasn't massively impressed with the graphics in the last batch of screens but these look much better. More to come this week apparently!

Also if you look closely at the jet, its being piloted by the older guy from the trailer.

I heard this is going to be a downloadable only game, you're given a code and you get the game from submitting the code. Good news for me since discs no longer work for my PS3

I doubt it will be a download only game, however that will probably be an option. Download only probably is the future, but it's not here quite yet.

I'm hoping that the marketing campaign is working its way up to full force now, let's hope we'll be getting more screenshots this regularly, and also a release date and a trailer soon. I've got a feeling we'll get three more screenies on Friday, but I want more! I get the feeling that with these screenshots that Rockstar is working their way up to something, perhaps another trailer, with the release date, but I also fear we may not get anything like that til October/November time.

Regardless, I can't wait for this game! Nothing beats GTA.

Probably a placeholder but also a realistic time frame (if Rockstar don't surprise us all with an autumn 2012 release).

I know a lot of people are hoping it will be a surprise release this year but I think next May is more likely. Would be very cool if R* just released it in October without any plot details etc...
