How important is a scholarship?

I was nominated for a sixth form scholarship at my current school but I want to leave and have applied for 2 others. One of them I guess you could say I have a chance at being awarded a scholarship but the biggest chance is at my current school. My parents say that if I get a scholarship here then they won't let me leave because they say a scholarship looks really good when applying to uni etc. Is that true?? Because I really want to leave badly and am considering not doing well in the scholarship exams. My current school isn't bad but all my friends are leaving and the teaching isn't great, and I know I'd have a much better time at the 2 schools I've chosen.

I do not know how universities perceive scholarships per se

However I do think that staying at a school where you are not happy with the teaching wold be a mistake
