Re: Tech Society 3.0Now that's bloody tempting.(Original post by Jake9)
hotukdeals.com is always littered with cheap SSD deals
Currently 120GB for £68.98 and 240GB for £159.98. -
Re: Tech Society 3.0Why would you buy a 240GB one, when you could JBOD 2x120GB ones for less?(Original post by Jake9)

Re: Tech Society 3.0I come bearing gifts. Sony Vaio right? It's a problem with Vaios. One of the Sony software does it. I just tried it on mine as a test and it does the same thing as you - gives you a folder for each picture which is greyed out like it's a hidden file/folder. This will solve it/stop it from happening in future - if this problem is still actively going on in these folders:(Original post by G8D)
I feel like I'm spamming this thread up with ****ty questions BUT:
in certain folders I have these extra folders relating to image files. Basic makeup of the folder is "image.jpg.files", it contains a copy of the full sized image and a thumbnail.
Why are these here and what can I do to delete/hide them?
Start > Search > type 'content analysis' > Change Content Analysis settings > Turn off Photo analysis (and any other media). Also under folders to monitor > uncheck any folders that are checked.
As for deleting the existing ones, there are a few programs that delete duplicate files. But you could just stop them showing (since they are already hidden files) by opening up the windows explorer > Organise > Folder and search options > View > Don't show hidden files/folders.

Thanks and PRSOM. -
Re: Tech Society 3.0Erm interesting, actually the thing I listed automatically deletes them too. In the Photo Analysis settings, uncheck 'Analyse photos imported..' then below under 'Set folders to monitor' > uncheck all the checked folders (Photo/Video/Music) and it will say they will be deleted. Click Apply and they are gone. Refresh and all the dupes are gone.(Original post by G8D)
I like having hidden folders visible so I'll just delete them as and when I find them.
Thanks and PRSOM.
Success. -
Re: Tech Society 3.0I'd already searched "jpg.files", "png.files", "gif.files" and deleted manually(Original post by Ape Gone Insane)

Re: Tech Society 3.0This worked a treat. Bit of a tricky one to set up, but I now have some very useful redirecting going on...(Original post by RipperRoo)
Maybe something like this?.
Just search for redirection add-ons for your browser I guess.

To solve half of your problems you could have used Google.

I think I'll have to get a 2TB when I build my PC - considering I've filled my home 1TB fairly easily and I was 'holding back'
And I think I'm almost definitely being roped into getting an SSD. The question is 120GB or do I plump down for a 240GB?
Any heavy users here feel limited by their 120GB SSD? -
Re: Tech Society 3.0I'm sure the rest of the guys in the thread would love for me to go on a tirade about this [/sarcasm] but I've just spent the last three hours wading though a lake and cant be bothered, so I'll just leave this;(Original post by mangoh)
don't know why you lot are against Dre beats, best headphones going atm.

Beats offer an experience that's downright atrocious considering the prices they charge, the Pros are the only ones that aren't outperformed by headphones ranging from £80 to as little as £30 in the case of the Solos. They are outclassed in every facet and don't really have any redeeming factors.
On a happier note, I'm done with lectures for the year and my customs are being dispatched on Monday

Re: Tech Society 3.0The difference is a shirt is a shirt, it might be overpriced but if it doesn't rip when put on then it's doing the job its designed for as well as a shirt can. Beats, on the other hand, are horrible headphones when looked at from an objective standpoint, they are grossly overcharging for a product that does its job poorly. This is akin to saying I'd be validated in sticking a logo on the wooden go kart in my shed and charging somebody the equivalent of a Bentley. Simply saying "its designer!" doesn't apply if the quality isn't there and the product is meant to have some degree of actual function.(Original post by mangoh)
oh okay it's a bit like kuchi, if you have a t-shirt made by kuchi it is suddenly worth more but the quality isn't much different to fred baker?

Finished burying your Beats loving flatmate's body I see.
It was actually quite a fun morning, got to put on waders and mess around in the middle of a lake while the rest of the group took measurements and identified species for me

Re: Tech Society 3.0I've got the 128GB Crucial M4 with W7 64, Office 2010, CS5.5, CS6beta, itunes, steam, origins and about 3 games installed. I'm at 100GB out of 119GB used. I'd get the Crucial 256GB for £160 (I think it's still this price?).(Original post by hassi94)

The 128GB was £135 when I got it a while back. You can easily get by with the 120-128, but more is better.

Re: Tech Society 3.0Cool thanks for the info. They should hopefully be going for £140-£150 by the time I buy my PC parts (july) so I think I'll go for the 240/256GB depending on whether I go SanDisk Extreme/Crucial M4 respectively. Is getting your My Documents onto your storage drive a simple job (also does iTunes have any trouble with taking its library from a different drive)? Thanks again(Original post by SMed)
