Generally Firebug has a much, much cleaner UI for the inspector and console tabs, and is also highly extensible, you can get addons for various languages and libraries, plus tools like YSlow and PageSpeed, which for my job are pretty much essential. It's also much easier to use for front-end tweaking. The CSS inspector on Webkit is dire, really clunky interface and can't handle pseudo-selectors properly. Firebug gives a much clearer insight into the CSS plus the box model being used.

Firebug is probably the best web development tool in existence right now. The browser built-in inspectors really don't come close to it for versatility and ease of use.
I guess I'll have to start using it then. To think I've been missing out all this time.
I hear the Opera inspector (dragonfly?) was/is meant to be good. Any thoughts (if you've used it)?

You don't necessarily need to use Git in order to publish work on Github, although it makes it much easier if you do of course. And yeah, Mercurical users tend to have easier lives so I'm told, although I'm a major Git fan myself.
I'm going to have to learn git, if only because it's more powerful. I'm probably just biased because I learnt mercurial first.

Are you going to run for Tech mod?
Around a year ago I might have. Now? Nope.

Nah, but it'd be good if it was. That's why we have a size limit on things like GIFs in sigs, even when spoilered :yep:
Huh, just did a test and it would appear you're right. I remember something different...
Ah, looking back, I'm thinking of the flash code for youtube.

I've not used it, never really been inclined to try or use Opera. Since it's market share is so absurdly low, it seems silly to make it your primary browser when you're trying to build a site that is as cross-compatible as possible.

I think I'll wait for a Gofre Nexus 7 review before I pull the trigger.

Haha don't forget it's my first proper Android device so I'll probably spend the first week or so just trying to get to grips with it!

After nine months doing surveys for a website I finally get the necessary amount of points to claim my first voucher, and now I have to wait up to another two weeks for it to get sent to me, typical :unimpressed:
It's only taken me since easter and I didn't do any over exams anyway. I'm just gutted that now I've reached £10 they've taken away the tesco vouchers, I was going to combine them with my other clubcard vouchers and use it for freshers week

That was for a different site, not ValuedOpinions, who pay me quite regularly =P I got the voucher through this morning so I've ordered my speakers through Amazon with it, just need my MacBook Pro to sell on eBay now so I can buy my Mac Mini and monitors. Its got 18 watchers since Friday so hopefully that won't be an issue!

    Gutted about no Tesco anymore

Ordered mine the day after the Google I/O. Looking forward to browsing the web and reading stuff with it. From what I know, if you're lacking in the memory department, you can just root the device and install Stickmount, which means automatic mounting of external storage devices via the mini USB port.

Rumours have it that we get the N7 July 13th - July 17th if pre-ordered. Seen quite a few places (e.g. eBuyer, Currys) where the release date is July 19th for those who have not pre-ordered.

Also, if you're interested, the N7 Guidebook is here: https://play.google.com/store/books/...d=gKmQD47OvCYC

Any of you guys bothered by the N7's ghosting issues? Apparently it's a common IPS issue (shared with the MBPR) but still seems pretty dramatic.

Memory won't be a huge issue for me, I'm not going to go crazy in terms of apps and I'll probably stream the majority of my content over wifi, I've got a couple of apps lined up to try for that. Thanks for the guidebook though!

Since it's only been confirmed in prerelease models so far and it isn't totally widespread, I'm not cancelling my order. If it does turn out to be a significant issue then I will be seeking a refund, however.

Sounds like maybe you didn't push the sticks in hard enough? The side latches should shut by themselves once you've pushed the sticks in fully.

Otherwise you may just have faulty sticks. Try doing just one stick at a time.

    Is this decent? http://www.ebuyer.com/257796-acer-v2...r-et-uv3he-a12

Can anyone recommend a better one that's similarly priced? I'm totally lost when it comes to screen quality jargon (after resolution, anyway).

Sizes between 23 and 27 inch would be k. Also, it's better to connect with DVI rather than HDMI, right?

Probably not too bad for just general purpose stuff. Acer are ok, and it's full 1080. DVI-D and HDMI are the same in terms of image quality, but HDMI also carries sound which is only important if your monitor has little speakers, and if the only sound you have for your computer is coming from those little speakers in your monitor... dear god...

My monitor doesn't have HDMI but it does have DVI-D. My old graphics only had HDMI so I got an HDMI-->DVI-D cable and it works perfectly.

Google's Nexus 7 Jelly Bean tablet gets UK delivery dates http://www.zdnet.com/googles-nexus-7...es-7000000506/ :beard:

British electronics sellers Dixons and Carphone Warehouse have revealed the dates in July when they expect to have Google's first tablet, the Nexus 7, on sale.

Dixons, which owns high-street stores PC World and Currys, expects to start handing over the Android Jelly Bean-powered Nexus 7 to shoppers on 19 July, it said on the pre-order web page. Carphone Warehouse buyers will have to wait just over a week longer, as the store said on its website it expects stock to come in on 27 July.

I have seen speculation that it is only on pre production models, and only on some of those. Asus has responded saying that they couldn't reproduce the effects on production models, and if it turns out they are lying then they are going to receive some heavy flak over it. Will be returning mine if it is a serious/regularly noticeable issue.

:teeth: That was epic, my Hot Wheels were a complete failure compared to those. The spinning belts which sped up the cars never worked for me

I've given up trying to predict the date now, since finding out HMV are giving yet another date, the 16th. Everybody's saying something different now! Either way it won't be any more than a week now so I'm just going to watch for a dispatch notice to pop up in my email address [=

Forget about the loops, check this out: (watch 1080 full screen)

    After that, watch 1-4.

Ok. I picked my Transformer Prime (TF201) up last night to charge it up as the battery was dead and noticed that the USB/dock/charger port was dented, don't know how it happened but it must have taken an sizeable impact. I ask my Dad if he knows anything about it an says that he doesn't but runs off to the garage to get some plyers. Before I can stop him he trys to leaver the port open again leavering against the glass, theres a small chink sound and now there's a bird's foot shaped crack across my screen.

Now my Dads said he'll replace it. Money isn't tight at home but there still isn't a lot to throw around so I do feel guilty as it was partly my fault and I should have stopped him. Looking around and reading a few reviews it seems that the Transformer Pad (TF300) is cheaper but the internals are all but the same and the only thing that really is changed is it's a plastic case rather than Aluminium and the screen isn't as bright.

Also, how much do you reckon I'd get on ebay for my current prime. Everything works still and it's now charging, there's just a few hairline fractures across the screen that you can't really notice when the screen is on
