Re: Tech Society 3.0I'm surprised there isn't one already. Although I'm sure I saw a thread mentioning one?(Original post by G8D)
Someone should set up a TSR MC server with appropriate mods to safeguard certain areas from griefing
-
Re: Tech Society 3.0There's some village but it's hosted on some other server (with a site that you need to register on then "apply" to be whitelisted) but that's not ideal especially since registration was broken when I tried.(Original post by Dez)

Also recall a sub contemplating setting one up but nothing happened. -
Re: Tech Society 3.0Looks like you've got a job to do then.(Original post by G8D)

Re: Tech Society 3.0
Agreed, TSR server would be fun!
I find massive mod packs like that somewhat intimidating. I don't even know what all the items are in vanilla Minecraft, never mind the massive amount added by this! Seems like it would be too much like studying for hours before I can actually get some value out of it. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, this is really just speculation.(Original post by Mad Vlad)
In more verbose news, Technic mod for Minecraft is ****ing awesome. -
I've never played technic or tekkit but there are some pretty entertaining let's plays on YouTube covering them.(Original post by tface)

It's a pretty steep learning curve, but all the new stuff is very well documented.
Thanks for the replies. I hadn't considered let's plays, mainly because the last Minecraft one I used to watch was Yogscast, which quickly grew tiresome. I may check it out, see if I can rediscover the Minecraft bug!(Original post by G8D)

Re: Tech Society 3.0Indeed - it's all I play (well, actually I mostly play Tekkit but through Technic Launcher so it counts(Original post by Mad Vlad)
C...c...c...combo breaker!

Re: Tech Society 3.0Isn't Tekkit just the "I've got friends" version of Technic?(Original post by hassi94)

Re: Tech Society 3.0The neat thing with it, is that the Launcher makes it so easy to switch between Vanilla and the Modded versions.(Original post by tface)

It's pretty slick.

Re: Tech Society 3.0Just looked it up and you're right(Original post by Mad Vlad)
Isn't Tekkit just the "I've got friends" version of Technic?
I thought there might have been small differences that I didn't notice but apparently not
Yeah I play with 2 or 3 friends on my server usually (though I haven't played it in a couple of weeks)

Oh dear god, one of the Starbucks staff knows me by name now. I need broadband back, and quickly. -

Minecraft Server suddenly stopped working over the internet. Tried Technic, Vanilla and Terraria through Minecraft's port (25565) and none seem to work. Still works fine locally - no router settings have been changed, ports are still open. What could be the problem? -

Re: Tech Society 3.0Perhaps - but it has been over 3 hours now and still occurring.(Original post by Mad Vlad)
ISP being a wench?
The server command line says everything is fine - no errors.
But the minecraft website was up and working a few hours ago fine (whilst this problem was happening - though it is still occurring now). And other servers are having no problems :/
Oh, and Terraria server wouldn't work so it seems it definitely is some problem with the port 25565. Could be on the ISP side, will try again tomorrow and see. If not, I'll give them a ring.
More info:
Used 'PortChecker' by Portforward.com and I tried ports 7777 (terraria server) and 25565 (minecraft server) on both TCP and UDP. The UDP 7777 is open, and the rest are supposedly all closed. All have exactly the same set-up on my router firewall and services :/

More info - 2!
:
My other portforwarded PC is perfectly capable of running a minecraft server. They both have exactly the same port settings (except 2 different local IP addresses, obviously).
Really not seeing where the issue is coming from.Last edited by Intriguing Alias; 29-07-2012 at 21:03.
