Re: Tech Society 3.0Remove the rules and reapply them on the router.(Original post by hassi94)
Perhaps - but it has been over 3 hours now and still occurring.
The server command line says everything is fine - no errors.
But the minecraft website was up and working a few hours ago fine (whilst this problem was happening - though it is still occurring now). And other servers are having no problems :/
Oh, and Terraria server wouldn't work so it seems it definitely is some problem with the port 25565. Could be on the ISP side, will try again tomorrow and see. If not, I'll give them a ring.
More info:
Used 'PortChecker' by Portforward.com and I tried ports 7777 (terraria server) and 25565 (minecraft server) on both TCP and UDP. The UDP 7777 is open, and the rest are supposedly all closed. All have exactly the same set-up on my router firewall and services :/

More info - 2!
:
My other portforwarded PC is perfectly capable of running a minecraft server. They both have exactly the same port settings (except 2 different local IP addresses, obviously).
Really not seeing where the issue is coming from. -
Re: Tech Society 3.0How does that work?(Original post by hassi94)

As in, surely you can only forward the ports to one local computer? -
Re: Tech Society 3.0Turns out you're right. Whilst I know only one can be forwarded at a time, I thought my router had the ability to open the port to one or the other depending on which is turned on first (as it seemed to be working for the past 2 weeks). Apparently we were just getting lucky and I've now changed it so each port is only opened to one computer.(Original post by Chrosson)

No issues, though; I've just given one PC port 7777 and the other 25565. Then the first can force minecraft to use terraria's 7777 (I never have both on at once) and vice versa
Thanks for the help Chrosson as well as Vlad and G8D! I learnt something new - at least. -
Re: Tech Society 3.0Haha knowing my local Maccies I'd be robbed before I could accept the networks T&Cs!(Original post by SMed)
Quick, get to McDonald's!
Speaking of robbery, I went into a small independent computer store over the road from where I worked today to look at RAM prices. Some of the gems I found included;
-DDR3 RAM started at £39.99 for 2GB
-16GB SD Cards "Compatible with HD Video and Pictures" for £29.99
-A custom gaming PC based around a first gen i3
Pricing was plain ludicrous across the board. I was under the impression these little places bucked the trend PC World set of preying on the ignorant

Re: Tech Society 3.0How's the N7 treating you? Any issues with your display? I heard many are over-exposed and no one's sure if it can be corrected via firmware updates yet.(Original post by Gofre)

Re: Tech Society 3.0So far great, but then again I've only really been using it to web browse in cafés with, without the Internet at home I haven't had a chance to download anything. No display issues whatsoever, colours look fine and no signs of ghosting, even after working through a 480 page novel. An excellent purchase so far.(Original post by SMed)

Re: Tech Society 3.0The only problem I have had on mine is very, very rare flickering while on the Kindle app. Aside from that no other issues, and I have used it a lot.(Original post by SMed)

Re: Tech Society 3.0
When I retired my old laptop a year or something ago I put its HDD in an enclosure to use as an external.
The casing allows for both USB and eSATA connections (this one requiring a USB power lead also).
However I've just went to use it after a long while of not doing so and the USB connection is not working unless I also use the USB power thing, any ideas why this might be the case? With just the USB connection it powers on and ticks... I guess, but the computer doesn't recognise it. -
Re: Tech Society 3.0Are you plugging the usb cord directly into a 'root' usb port directly into the computer (i.e. not one hanging off a usb extension)?(Original post by G8D)

Re: Tech Society 3.0Yep. I've tried with two different laptops both directly into one of the ports. Also used two cables, one replacement cable (which I originally blamed for the issue as it did the same thing to my dad's HDD) and my dad's cable.(Original post by Chrosson)

The second cable was originally mine so I know that it used to work for this drive. -

Re: Tech Society 3.0
So I ran scans on Windows and nothing showed up as at fault on the drive. I then plugged it into my Air (without the AV cable) and it reads it, however it can only read from the disk. Is that a problem with the disk or the formatting?

Re: Tech Society 3.0Try it with a Linux CD that has a disk utility. Then you can read and write if necessary.(Original post by G8D)

Re: Tech Society 3.0Huh. Clever. I'd have probably gone the macfuse route, but that'll be more stable and faster.(Original post by G8D)

Yeah...I also discovered that a long time ago. Turns out installing filesystem drivers (or at least that one) on Windows is a Bad Idea.(Original post by G8D)
Digg looks pretty swish these days.
Also, installed Paragon HFS+ and it seems to have ****ed my drivers up. First boot wireless was broken, second audio service failed to start... :/
You should probably just write to NTFS instead, or use a standalone program like http://www.catacombae.org/hfsx.html which is awkward but functional (when I tried it).Last edited by Chrosson; 03-08-2012 at 19:59. -
Re: Tech Society 3.0
Chrome
First complaint I've had in a long long time, but I have a password that just will not piss off. Seriously, I've deleted it from saved passwords, from my OS X keychain, I've even disabled sync, but it keeps coming back and I don't know where it's coming from
It's an old .htaccess username/password combo and it's taking precedence over the correct one. Grr. Might have to just create a new profile at this rate.
