Re: Tech Society 3.0Depends on what you are using a tablet for.(Original post by Dez)
The entire point of the iOS UI, the multitouch gestures, and so on, was to get rid of the cumbersome mess that having a stylus gave you. Not to mention the inconvenience when the stylus inevitably ended up broken or lost. Why on earth would anyone want to go back to using one?
I use a similar one to this http://www.ubergizmo.com/2011/06/sahara-slate-pc-i500/
and it is excellent for the purpose I use said device. -
Re: Tech Society 3.0
In reference to an earlier post, The "cleanbox" project has been given the go ahead and we start next week. Now all I need is to start getting ideas. if we get a working prototype we're going to go to the university and see about doing some market research, possibly turning it into a commercial project

Re: Tech Society 3.0I found that when I installed CM7 on mine, the proximity sensor issue (screen not coming back on after a call) was caused by the screen protector.(Original post by G8D)
Reasonable enough. My dad's been running it on his since he got it and has had no complaints.
It struggles a bit with the "orb" lockscreen or whatever but otherwise it runs fine.
There is a proximity sensor issue when receiving phone calls (the screen never comes back on) but that's easy enough to fix by recalibrating it.
One thing: my screen appears to be pretty badly hindered by the screen protector I'm using
, I hope it sorts itself out after a but of use.
No issues at all since I cut around the sensor

Re: Tech Society 3.0My dad has had his screen protector on since day one and I sorted the issue via "ZTE settings" app or w/e. I've got the same make of protector and have not experienced the problem(Original post by Nick Longjohnson)

Re: Tech Society 3.0
Contrary to popular belief, everything's just peachy for RIM, honest.

Am I the only person who reads that as "Blackberry users still use their Blackberries", rather than that the company's actually in what can be described as good shape? -
Re: Tech Society 3.0I'm thinking of investing in one for my tablet(Original post by G8D)
A stylus serves a niche purpose on larger screens. -
Re: Tech Society 3.0It's all a bit straw man, isn't it? I imagine the only reason their app platform isn't dead yet is because they made it so Android apps could run on Blackberry. And gloating over your app store generating more revenue than the Android one is rather like saying a molehill generates slightly more dirt than an anthill.(Original post by Gofre)

Re: Tech Society 3.0Pretty much, it just screams denial to me. It's like an obese person saying they're not obese just because they can run ten meters, just because you can do something doesn't mean you're doing it well!(Original post by Dez)

Apparently I have to rep other people before I can you two again.... that's not a good sign(Original post by Gofre)

I know how you feel, last week I got all giddy when I got post with a handwritten envelope, like someone wanted to put in the effort to write to me. Turned out it was only my pay slip from work(Original post by Ape Gone Insane)
I remember a time when I used to get excited when I received emails in my Hotmail inbox and had little care for postal mail. Nowadays, I get excited when I received postal mail and have little care for emails.
How times have changed.

Re: Tech Society 3.0I'm the same. I have a friend who still exchanges letters with me, just because its so nice to get them once in a while(Original post by Gofre)

The playbook scenario is a bit of a shame really... the hardware is good, the os is fluid ... However RIM just drag their feet in bringing "essentials" and promises to the table.
I bought a playbook due to the very low price and find it a great little device when I am travelling, lack of native PIM is really the biggest drawback for me and for that reason alone I tend to use either an android or ipad for most work/ meeting related stuff. -

Re: Tech Society 3.0I mean the tablet needs a proper digitiser in order to be accurate enough to be effective.(Original post by wizard710)
