I've found the Windows version awful compared to the Mac. It's so much more slow, and much more of a resource hog and I really don't understand how they could regularly do such a bad job with coding for Windows with the amount of updates they bring out.

Pretty much the first thing I did when I bought my MacBook Pro was to uninstall iTunes off of my PC. The Mac version is bad enough, but the Windows port is dire.

Ecoute, which is a front-end for iTunes. Works similarly to how the iOS Music app works, but takes better advantage of the full screen. Much nicer for playing stuff by a particular artist/album/whatever, bit less useful when it's on shuffle all. Since it uses the iTunes library it should work with FLAC if you've set iTunes to do the same.
